The diversity of wound types has gathered momentum to develop a wide range of wound dressings to improve different aspects of the wound healing process. Wound healing is a dynamic, complex and highly regulated mechanism of tissue repair and regeneration. The wound dressing should encourage regeneration and prevent possible infection or scaring. Wound dressings are different from the bandages as they come in direct contact with the wound and are used to absorb exudates and accelerate healing. Wound dressings can have a variety of functions, depending upon the type, severity, and position of the wound. In this review, we have studied the properties of nanofibrous wound dresses and possible approaches to load biological components into them for wound healing improvement.

Background: Fungating breast wounds cause significant complications and morbidity to patients. Wound care is of paramount importance in optimising care and alleviating suffering for patients with malignant breast wounds. Currently, routinely implemented objective assessment tools for fungating breast wound treatment outcomes are non-existent, and institutional practice varies.

Wound healing is a dynamic and complex process involving hemostasis, inflammation, fibroblast proliferation, and tissue remodeling. This process is highly susceptible to bacterial infection, which often leads to impaired and delayed wound repair. While antibiotic therapy remains the primary clinical approach for treating bacteria-infected wounds, its widespread use poses a significant risk of developing bacterial resistance.

Introduction: Silver sulfadiazine 1 % cream had historically been the mainstay initial treatment for scald wounds at our institution. However, we transitioned to using closed dressings of only petrolatum-impregnated 3 % bismuth tribromophenate gauze (Xeroform) for all partial-thickness burns. Xeroform adheres to the wound while allowing the exudates to drain and acts as a scaffold for re-epithelialization, after which it falls off without traumatizing the wound bed, theoretically allowing viable tissue to declare itself while requiring less frequent dressing changes.

Electrospun nanofibers produced through single-fluid blending processes have successfully demonstrated their potential as highly effective wound dressings. However, electrospun Janus nanofibers, in which various chambers can be designed to load different active pharmaceutical ingredients into different polymeric matrices, are further exhibiting their versatility for promoting wound healing. This commentary declares that wound dressings always need multiple functional performances to promote wound healing.

The skin, as the body's largest organ, plays a crucial role in protecting against mechanical forces and infections, maintaining fluid balance, and regulating body temperature. Therefore, skin wounds can significantly threaten human health and cause a heavy economic burden on society. Recently, bioelectric fields and electrical stimulation (ES) have been recognized as a promising pathway for modulating tissue engineering and regeneration of wounded skin.
