Objective: To present an overview of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of cancer pain related to disease and treatment.
Data Sources: Published manuscripts, Web sites, and textbook chapters.
Conclusion: Current knowledge of cancer pain epidemiology and pathophysiology widens and focuses the opportunities to prevent, limit, and treat cancer pain.
Implications For Nursing Practice: Nurses' knowledge of transduction, transmission, perception, and modulation in cancer pain pathophysiology outlines pathways for multimodal approaches to treat complex and diverse pain experiences. Use of standard vocabulary of pain terms and definitions facilitates pain assessment and management across different disciplines.

Introduction: Colonoscopies are routine procedures performed primarily on adults over the age of 50; however, there is little known about the influence of social determinants of health on successful completion of colonoscopies. Inadequate at-home bowel preparation can result in increased procedure duration, decreased cancer detection, and may necessitate a repeated colonoscopy, putting undue stress on the patient. Research suggests neurocognitive disorder is a risk factor for poor bowel preparation in older adults; however, lower education may confound neurocognitive findings, independently contributing to risk of incomplete colonoscopies.

Objective: To explore the perspectives and experiences of patients and carers living with the long-term consequences of pelvic exenteration.
Summary Background Data: Pelvic exenteration is accepted as the standard of care for selected patients with locally advanced or recurrent rectal cancer. With contemporary 5-year survival reported at 40-60%, the number of long-term survivors is expected to increase.

Treatment of distal radial fractures that include small anterior rim fragments can be difficult. We retrospectively reviewed 19 patients in whom an anterior rim plate with locking screws was used. After a median follow-up of 18 months (range 6-32; interquartile range (IQR) 14, 26), the median wrist flexion and extension arc was 70° (range 50-80; IQR 60, 70), the median grip strength was 80% of the contralateral side (range 52-104; IQR 77, 88), the median visual analogue scale score for pain was 0 (range 0-5; IQR 0, 1), the median disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand score was 2 (range 0-59; IQR 0, 11) and the median modified Mayo wrist score was 80 (range 35-100; IQR 75, 85).

Background: Amyloidosis combined with lung cancer is a rare occurrence. To date, there are no reported cases of amyloid light-chain(AL) amyloidosis solely affecting the colon combined with pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
Case Summary: Here, we describe a case of a 66-year-old woman who presented with recurrent abdominal pain and was eventually diagnosed with AL amyloidosis with colon involvement and pulmonary adenocarcinoma.

Cancer pain is one of the most common symptoms in patients with advanced cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of the -related gene C (MrgC) receptors on bone cancer pain. Mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured after the inoculation of Walker 256 mammary gland carcinoma cells into the tibia of adult Sprague-Dawley rats.
