The objective of this pilot study was to determine the minimum operational flow for loose-fitting powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR) used in healthcare cleaning services. An innovative respiratory flow recording device was worn by nine healthcare workers to obtain the minute volume (MV, L/min), mean inhalation flow (MIF, L/min), and peak inhalation flow (PIF, L/min) while performing "isolation unit work" (cleaning and disinfecting) of a patient room within 30 min. The MV and PIF were compared with the theoretical values obtained from an empirical formula. The correlations of MV, MIF, and PIF with subjects' age, weight, height, body surface area (A), and body mass index (BMI) were analyzed. The average MV, MIF, and PIF were 33, 74, and 107 L/min, with maximal airflow rates of 41, 97, and 145 L/min, respectively, which are all below the current 170 L/min minimum operational flow for NIOSH certified loose-fitting PAPRs.

Despite the relevance of kidney transplantation, the supply of organs and the process for inclusion in its waiting list still represent obstacles. This study aimed to analyze the performance of dialysis centers in referring patients for pre-kidney transplant evaluation and inclusion in the waiting list of incident dialysis patients from 2015 to 2019 in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This retrospective cohort study sampled 23,297 records of patients who underwent dialysis therapy in public or philanthropic institutions or who had their treatment funded by the Brazilian Unified National Health System in private clinics.

Purpose: This study explores the effects of water intake and a hyaluronic acid (HA)-containing lozenge on acoustic measurements and vocal oscillation patterns investigated after a vocal loading test (VLT).
Method: Ten healthy subjects (five females, five males) read out loud a standardized text for 10 min at a target level of 80 dB(A), measured 30 cm from the mouth, under three conditions but each after fasting for 2 hr: (a) drinking 0.7 l of water, (b) sucking an HA-containing lozenge, and (c) neither of both before the VLT.

Purpose: To evaluate intermediate-term outcomes and complications associated with Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implantation in eyes with type 1 keratoprosthesis (KPro).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed records of 43 eyes of 43 Indian patients with type 1 KPro and AGV from 2009 to 2021 with a minimum of 6-months of follow-up. Five eyes that had AGV before KPro were excluded, leaving 38 eyes for analysis.

Objectives: In cases of preterm delivery, the Medicaid sterilization policy mandates a signed consent form at least 72 h before surgery for permanent contraception, which is less than the 30 day minimum waiting period for term births. This study evaluated the association between preterm birth and fulfillment of planned permanent contraception.
Study Design: This was a secondary analysis of a multi-center retrospective cohort study of 3013 patients with a postpartum contraceptive plan of permanent contraception.

Aim: To construct a predictive model based on the LODDS stage established for patients with late-onset colon adenocarcinoma to enhance survival stratification.
Methods: Late-onset colon adenocarcinoma data were obtained from the public database. After determining the optimal LODDS truncation value for the training set via X-tile software, we created a new staging system by integrating the T stage and M stage.
