Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have significant potential for practical application in catalysis. However, many MOFs are shown to be sensitive to aqueous solution. This severely limits application of MOFs in electrocatalytic operations for energy production and storage. Here, a Co (II) boron imidazolate framework CoB(im)(ndc) (, im = imidazolate, ndc = 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) that is rationally designed and successfully tested for electrocatalytic application in strong alkaline (pH ≈ 14) solution is reported. In such a BIF system, the inherent carboxylate species segment large channel spaces into multiple domains in which each single channel is filled with ndc ligands through the effect of zeolite channel confinement. These ligands, with strong C-H···π interaction, act as a rigid auxiliary linker to significantly enhance the structural stability of the framework. Additionally, the π-conjugated effect in stabilizes dopant Fe (III) at the atomic scale to construct Fe-immobilized (). Due to the synergistic effect between Fe (III) guest and Co (II) in the framework, the acts as an active and stable electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline solution.

Disruption of cholinesterases and, as a consequence, increased levels of acetylcholine lead to serious disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system, including death. The need for rapid administration of an antidote to restore esterase activity is critical, but practical implementation of this is often difficult. One promising solution may be the development of antidote delivery systems that will release the drug only when acetylcholine levels are elevated.

Living cell systems possess multiple isolated compartments that can spatially confine complex substances and shield them from each other to allow for feedback reactions. In this work, a bioinspired design of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with well-defined multishelled matrices was fabricated as a hierarchical host for multiple guest substances including fluorogenic molecules and catalytic nanoparticles (NPs) at the separated locations for the development of a dual-mode glycoprotein assay. The multispatial-compartmental zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) constituents were synthesized via epitaxial shell-by-shell overgrowth to guide the integration and spatial organization of host guests.

With the widespread application of antibiotics in the medical field, associated wastewater pollution has become a critical environmental issue, creating potential risks to ecosystems and public health. This study synthesized three novel nanocomposite materials, ZIF-8@h-BN-X, using an in-situ growth method by adjusting h-BN content. Compared to pure two-dimensional hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), their adsorption capacities for ofloxacin (OFL) in solution were evaluated.
