The ionic complex [Au(N-adenine)(PMe)](CFCO) (1) displays a supramolecular structure built up through ionic, π-stacking, C-HO, C-HN and C-HAu interactions. Ab initio calculations permit the characterization of the nature of these interactions. Complex 1 is luminescent in the solid state at 77 K. This complex forms a hydrometallogel consisting of straight molecular nanowires, which is responsive to thermal and mechanical stimuli. The gel has also been studied by rheological oscillatory experiments.

Staphylococcus warneri is a gram-positive mesophilic bacterium, resilient to extreme environmental conditions. To unravel its Osmotic Tolerance Response (OTR), we conducted proteomic and metabolomic analyses under drought (PEG) and salt (NaCl) stresses. Our findings revealed 1340 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) across all treatments.

Background: Mangrove plants growing in the high salt environment of coastal intertidal zones colonize a variety of microorganisms in the phyllosphere, which have potential salt-tolerant and growth-promoting effects. However, the characteristics of microbial communities in the phyllosphere of mangrove species with and without salt glands and the differences between them remain unknown, and the exploration and the agricultural utilization of functional microbial resources from the leaves of mangrove plants are insufficient.

Results: In this study, we examined six typical mangrove species to unravel the differences in the diversity and structure of phyllosphere microbial communities between mangrove species with or without salt glands.

We theoretically investigate how the intranuclear environment influences the charge of a nucleosome core particle (NCP)-the fundamental unit of chromatin consisting of DNA wrapped around a core of histone proteins. The molecular-based theory explicitly considers the size, shape, conformation, charge, and chemical state of all molecular species-thereby linking the structural state with the chemical/charged state of the system. We investigate how variations in monovalent and divalent salt concentrations, as well as pH, affect the charge distribution across different regions of an NCP and quantify the impact of charge regulation.

Extended Active Space Ab Initio Ligand Field Theory: Applications to Transition-Metal Ions.

Ligand field theory (LFT) is one of the cornerstones of coordination chemistry since it provides a conceptual framework in which a great many properties of d- and f-element compounds can be discussed. While LFT serves as a powerful qualitative guide, it is not a tool for quantitative predictions on individual compounds since it incorporates semiempirical parameters that must be fitted to experiment. One way to connect the realms of first-principles electronic structure theory that has emerged as particularly powerful over the past decade is the ab initio ligand field theory (AILFT).

Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) represent a significant advance in green chemistry, offering an eco-friendly alternative to conventional organic solvents for applications in extraction, reaction media, and formulations. This study explores the application of NADES in essential oil formulations, using lavender essential oil (LEO) to investigate the solubilization and release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Two distinct NADES formulations were evaluated: hydrophilic NADES combined with surfactants, and hydrophobic NADES.
