We report on the study of quenching and thermal lensing based on simple effective lens approximation in a Cr:CdSe active medium, including detailed research on the medium's luminescence lifetime dependence on temperature in the 236-391 K range. This work has allowed us to partially overcome the limitations associated with thermal effects in the medium and build a laser system that allowed power scalability to be realized for the Cr:CdSe laser. Longitudinal pumping using a continuous-wave Tm-doped fiber laser at 1.908 μm produced an output of 2.3 W at 2.65 μm with an absorbed pump power slope efficiency of 47.6%, which, to the best of our knowledge, is the highest output power achieved in Cr:CdSe continuous-wave lasers.

The aim of this study was to compare the acute effect of three cluster set (CS) intra-set rest intervals (15 s, 30 s, and 45 s) on mechanical performance measures during a flywheel resistance training session. Twelve amateur male field sport athletes attended three training measurement sessions (separated by 14 days of wash-out), consisting of four sets of nine repetitions (as cluster-blocks: 3 + 3 + 3), using a 0.050 kg·m inertial load.

Silica Waveguide Thermo-Optic Mode Switch with Bimodal S-Bend.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, College of Electronic Science & Engineering, Jilin University, No. 2699 Qianjin Street, Changchun 130012, China.

A silica waveguide thermo-optic mode switch with small radius bimodal S-bends is demonstrated in this study. The cascaded multimode interference coupler is adopted to implement the E and E mode selective output. The beam propagation method is used in design optimization.

Performance Enhancement by Integrating the Ionic Thermoelectric Generator with a Photovoltaic Cell.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

December 2024

Department of Flexible Sensing Technology, Institute of Chemical Engineering, Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510665, China.

The global solar market is booming with a rapid growth in installed integrated devices, while photovoltaic (PV) systems are suffering from waste heat, which causes the decline of the photovoltaic conversion efficiency (PCE). This study presents the seamless integration of the ionic thermoelectric generator (iTEG) layer with traditional PV modules, facilitating the exploitation of waste heat and augmenting the overall power output. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the iTEG, demonstrating substantial power generation and a consistent energy output.
