The combined effects of temperature (5 to 42°C), NaCl (0.5 to 4.5%), pH (5.3 to 7.3), and NaN0 (0 to 200 μg/ml) on the aerobic growth of Aeromonas hydrophila K144 were studied in brain heart infusion (BHI) broth using a modified central composite design. Variable combinations were tested in triplicate aerobic flasks; viable cell counts were made at intervals during incubation by surface plating on tryptic soy agar. Growth curves were generated using the Gompertz equation in conjunction with a nonlinear iterative regression analysis. Values for the four Gompertz parameters (A, C, B, and M) were obtained for the variable combinations tested. Using response surface techniques, quadratic and cubic equations containing the four variables of temperature, pH, NaCl, and NaN0 were developed to yield predictive values for the B and M Gompertz values. Goodness of fit evaluation of the models was by R values. Comparison of predicted and observed values of B and M and evaluation of predicted lag times and generation times indicated that the quadratic model gave a better fit. Overall, the variable combinations interacted to decrease the generation time and increase the lag time. The results indicate that pH, salt, and nitrite can decrease the growth of A. hydrophila when combined with low temperature incubation.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice. Triglyceride glucose index (Tyg), a convenient evaluation variable for insulin resistance, has shown associations with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. However, studies on the Tyg index's predictive value for adverse prognosis in patients with AF without diabetes are lacking.

In Brazil, health policies implemented over the last three decades have enabled rapid testing for HIV to be made available in primary health care services. However, although these policies are national, the implementation of actions is not uniform, as they depend on the local management of local health systems. In this context, the study identified the proportion of women from sexual minorities who had never tested for HIV and the factors associated with access, in a Metropolitan Region of the Brazilian Amazon.

Background: The long-term effects of breakfast on childhood z-BMI remain inconclusive.
Objective: To prospectively assess the impact of stable and altered breakfast consumption habits on z-BMI change over two years, in school-aged children across six European countries.
Methods: Data of 6,528 children (8.

We intended to investigate the potential of several transitional zone (TZ) volume-related variables for the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) among lesions scored as Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) category 3. Between September 2018 and August 2023, patients who underwent mpMRI examination and scored as PI-RADS 3 were queried from our institution. The diagnostic performances of prostate-specific antigen density (PSAD), TZ-adjusted PSAD (TZPSAD), and TZ-ratio (TZ volume/whole gland prostate volume) were analyzed.

A retrospective analysis was conducted on 218 patients with uterine fibroids who underwent HIFU treatment, including 178 cases from Yongchuan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and 40 cases from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (external validation set). Radiomics features were extracted and selected from magnetic resonance images, and potentially related imaging features were collected.
