Wounds are common clinical entities of life which may be subacute or acute. Wound healing is a complex biochemical process where the cell structures are restored to normalcy, which depend on cell proliferation and migration, basically fibroblast cell. The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the healing efficacy of red pigment isolated from marine isolate sps on experimental wounds in albino rats. The red pigment was applied topically, twice daily for 14 days. Treatment with framycetin ointment was used as reference control. The red pigment treated group showed faster reduction in wound area in comparison with control and framycetin ointment treated groups. In conclusion, red pigment possesses significant healing potential in wounds and has a positive influence on the different phases of wound repair.

Sulcardine sulfate (Sul) is a novel antiarrhythmic agent blocking multiple channels and exhibits unique pharmacological properties such as lower APD-dependent prolongation and reduced arrhythmia risk. Sul is currently in Phase III clinical trials, yet studies on its long-term toxicological profile and potential target organs remain unexplored. This study investigated the related toxicity of Sul in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats through repeated oral administration for 26 weeks, followed by a 4-week recovery period.

Gloriosa L. possesses exceptional ornamental value, with its floral hues exhibiting a wide range of variations. In this study, we employed sophisticated colorimetry, Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS), and transcriptome sequencing to investigate the phenotypic expression of tepal colors, the composition of carotenoids and anthocyanins, and the differential gene expression in four Gloriosa varieties during their full bloom phase.

Point of departure (POD) is a concept used in risk assessment to calculate the reference dose of exposure that is likely to have no appreciable risk on health. POD can be directly utilized from no observed adverse effect levels (NOAEL) which is the dose or exposure level at which there is little or no risk of adverse effects. However, NOAEL values are unavailable for most of the chemicals due to inconsistent animal toxicity data.

This study is the first to explore the effects of the novel yellow pigment monascinol (Msol) from red mold rice (RMR) on reducing body fat and to compare its effects with those of monascin (MS) and ankaflavin (AK). In a high-fat diet-induced rat model, different doses of RMR fermented rice (RL, RM, RH) and purified Msol, MS, and AK were administered over an 8-week period. The results showed that all treatment groups significantly reduced body weight and fat mass.
