A simple, convenient and inexpensive method for the preparation of magnetic chitin composite, in which magnetite particles are densely covered with the polysaccharide shell has been developed. Two-step procedure for magnetic chitin preparation includes: (i) adsorption of chitosan onto magnetite particles and (ii) N-selective acetylation of chitosan to produce magnetic chitin. The composite combines the magnetic properties of magnetite and the adsorption properties of chitin. The synthesized magnetic chitin is an efficient adsorbent of β-d-GlcNAc-specific lectins and lysozyme. The adsorption capacity of magnetic chitin for wheat germ (Triticum vulgaris) and potato (Solanum tuberosum) lectins was in the range of 67-86 mg g of the adsorbent. Magnetic chitin showed the high capacity for enzyme-lysozyme. Synthesized adsorbent is environmentally friendly and recyclable. Magnetic chitin may be used as a promising multi-purpose adsorbent of pollutants of organic or inorganic nature.

African swine fever (ASF) is an acute hemorrhagic disease in pigs caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV), which has a high mortality rate and brought great damage to global pig farming industry. At present, there is no effective treatment or vaccine to combat ASFV infection, so early detection of ASFV has become particularly important. Therefore, the PDMS/chitosan/MPMs composite film was proposed to detect ASFV P72.

Chitin is the second most abundant biopolymer in nature after cellulose and is composed of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) connected via β(1 → 4)-glycosidic bonds. Despite its prominence in nature and diverse roles in pharmaceutical and food technological applications, there is still a need to develop methods to study structure and function of chitin and its corresponding oligomers. Efforts have been made to analyse chitin oligomers by NMR spectroscopy, but spectral overlap has prevented any differentiation between the interior residues.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to synthesize the cobalt iron oxide (CoFe) and doxorubicin (Dox)-loaded chitosan bilirubin (ChiBil) nanoparticles and to investigate the anticancer therapeutic effect of the synthesized nanoparticles under magnetic guidance in a colon cancer.
Materials And Methods: ChiBil-CoFe-Dox nanoparticles were synthesized by conjugating CoFe and Dox and then loaded onto ChiBil nanoparticles. Synthesis were characterized using thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis, inductive coupled plasma (ICP) analysis, dynamic light scattering (DLS), zeta potential and field emission-transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM).

Developing and creating novel antibiotics is one of the most important targets in treating infectious diseases. Novel coumarins were synthesized and characterized using different spectroscopic techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Nuclear magnetic resonanceH and C and mass spectroscopy (MS). All of the synthesized compounds have been tested for activity and sensitivity against the microbial strains of B.
