Three new species of (Perciformes, Pomacentridae) from the Philippines, collected between 75-150 m depth, are described by a combination of morphological features and their coloration. was found in Batangas and Oriental Mindoro, and differs from its congeners in body depth (2.1-2.2 in SL), and color of adults, light brown, with a silver area on the anterior end and a bilateral black margin along the exterior side of the tail. It is most similar to , with a 5.3% genetic divergence in COI. was found around Lubang Island. Body depth (1.9-2.0 in SL) and adult coloration (yellowish with dark black outer margins on dorsal and anal fins) also separate this species from its congeners. It is most similar to , with a 2.5% genetic divergence. was found in Batangas, and also differs from its congeners by the combination of body depth (1.5-1.6 in SL), and color of adults (brownish grey in the dorsal side to whitish on the ventral side, with alternating dark and light stripes in the sides of body). It is most similar to , with a 3.6% genetic divergence in COI.

Objectives: Historically in medicine and beyond, the understanding of and treatment of pain is based on finding tissue injury. The fact that for chronic pain, there often is no (longer) any traceable tissue injury, in combination with the fact that pain essentially is a private experience, poses a challenge for clinical communication. This paper therefore examines how pain is linguistically and interactionally constructed as invisible.

In the Philippines, nemipterid fishes hold substantial economic importance due to their high market value. However, the local longline fisheries lack specific regulations for managing the capture of these fishes. This study aimed to determine the optimum hook size for increasing catchability in nemipterid fishing while minimizing bycatch, thus promoting sustainable fisheries.

Low-coverage whole-genome sequencing (LcWGS), a cost-effective genotyping method, offers greater flexibility in variant detection than does single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chips. However, to our knowledge, no studies have explored the application of LcWGS in sheep. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of implementing LcWGS and genotype imputation and assess their applicability in genomic studies of body weight and milk yield in sheep.

Extensive grazing carried out freely by exotic goats represents an important source of anthropogenic degradation in seasonally dry tropical forests of Brazil. The presence of these herbivores may negatively impact the local fauna through the reduction of habitat complexity. In this study, we investigate the effect of goat farming in scorpion assemblage from Brazilian seasonally dry tropical forest.
