Thromboembolic events constitute a serious complication to assisted reproductive technology, and this is a case report of thrombosis after in vitro fertilisation. A 30-year-old woman had a positive pregnancy test, but she experienced shortness of breath 12 days after oocyte retrieval. D-dimer concentration was elevated, and lung scintigraphy demonstrated an infarction. Low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) treatment was initiated, but one week later the patient noticed pain in her left upper extremity. Despite LMWH treatment, ultrasonic examination showed thrombosis in the left subclavian and internal jugular vein.

It is very rare for teenagers to suffer from cerebral venous thrombosis due to oral contraceptives in a short period. Here, we report a 14-year-old girl who developed superior sagittal sinus thrombosis 2 days after oral ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate tablets treatment for abnormal uterine bleeding. There were no recorded instances of coagulopathies or strokes in her family or personal medical history.

Purpose: The evidence guiding the decision to provide injectable anticoagulant bridging therapy during periods of subtherapeutic warfarin anticoagulation is sparse. This study aims to identify the types of patients currently bridged within an academic medical center's Thrombosis Service, to highlight patient populations for future study of bridging outcomes.
Methods: This descriptive cohort study included patients taking warfarin managed by University of Utah Health Thrombosis Service who received outpatient enoxaparin bridging between January 1 and December 31, 2022.

The obstetrical follow-up of patients with a severe hypofibrinogenemia requires a multidisciplinary collaboration because of potential maternal-fetal complications (recurrent miscarriages, intrauterine fetal demise, post-partum hemorrhage, thrombosis). We report the obstetrical management of a multiparous patient with a severe congenital hypofibrinogenemia associated with a platelet disorder (abnormal phospholipid externalization). A therapeutic strategy based on a biweekly administration of fibrinogen concentrates associated with enoxaparin and aspirin allowed the maintenance of pregnancy.

This report presents a rare case of ischemic stroke in a 16-year-old female, which was later diagnosed as being caused by protein S deficiency, a hereditary thrombophilia. Stroke at a young age is uncommon, and identifying the underlying cause is critical for proper management. The patient presented with right-sided weakness and slurred speech, with MRI confirming an ischemic infarct.

Aspirin has increasingly gained attention as a thromboprophylaxis agent for patients undergoing orthopedic surgery; however, the results of recent clinical trials remain controversial. Therefore, in this meta-analysis, we compared the safety and efficacy of aspirin with those of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) for patients undergoing major orthopedic surgeries leading to significant immobility and necessitating anticoagulants to prevent thromboembolic events. PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched from the inception to April 20, 2024, to identify clinical trials and randomized controlled trials comparing the effect of aspirin and LMWH on deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), venous thromboembolism (VTE), major bleeding, short-term postoperative mortality, and adherence to treatment.
