The purpose of this pragmatic controlled trial was to examine changes in psychological and occupational well-being in professionals who attended a yoga-based program. The 5-day RISE (resilience, integration, self-awareness, engagement) program was delivered at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. RISE included 5 h per day of yoga, meditation, lectures, and experiential activities. Adult professionals from education, corrections, and social service institutions were pragmatically assigned to the RISE group ( = 61) or a waitlist control group ( = 60). Measures of psychological and occupational well-being were completed before RISE (baseline), immediately after RISE (postprogram), and 2 months after RISE (follow-up). Analyses of covariance were conducted to compare change scores between groups. Eighty-two participants (RISE = 41, control = 41) completed baseline and postmeasures and were included in the analysis, and 57 (RISE = 27, control = 30) also completed the follow-up. Relative to controls, the RISE group reported improvements in stress ( = 0.001, = 0.51), resilience ( = 0.028, = 0.34), positive affect ( = 0.001, = 0.52), negative affect ( = 0.001, = 0.52), mindfulness ( = 0.021, = 0.13), and job satisfaction ( = 0.034, = 0.08) from baseline to postprogram. From baseline to follow-up, compared with controls the RISE group showed improvements in stress ( = 0.001, = 0.33), resilience ( = 0.001, = 0.24), positive affect ( = 0.006, = 0.49), negative affect ( = 0.043, = 0.32), mindfulness ( = 0.001, = 0.28), empowerment ( = 0.005, = 0.20), and self-compassion ( = 0.011, = 0.19). The RISE program was associated with improvements in psychological and occupational well-being immediately after and 2 months after the program. Future research is needed to confirm these results.

Math anxiety (MA) is a prevalent academic anxiety that can affect student mental health and academic performance worldwide. Using a very large sample of students in grades 7 to 10 (N = 7172) in Qatar, the present study examined the associations among gender, math anxiety, and attitudes towards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). In addition, the factorial structure of the "Student Attitudes towards STEM Survey" (STEM-S) was examined.

Objective: Although increasing evidence suggests that depression/distress involves inflammatory processes, its potential sex differences and the temporal directions for this association remain elusive.
Methods: We examined the temporal association between serum inflammatory mediators and depression/distress as measured by the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K6), in non-depressed working men and women (n = 61 and 43, respectively) by a 16-month prospective design.
Results: Fully-adjusted partial correlation analyses revealed that in men, a lower IFN-γ predicted subsequent increases in CES-D and K6 scores, while a higher TNF-α predicted increased K6 scores.

Background: Given the demographic shift towards an older population, it is crucial to understand the determinants and implications of psychological distress among this demographic group. This study explores the relationship between health self-management and psychological distress in older Chinese adults, focusing on the mediating role of general self-efficacy (GSE).
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in five districts of Shanghai from 1 November to 31 December 2021, employing a random cluster sampling method.

Background: Improving functioning in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BD) is a priority therapeutic objective.
Methods: This retrospective post hoc secondary analysis evaluated 108 patients with MDD or BD receiving the antidepressants vortioxetine, ketamine, or infliximab. The analysis aimed to determine if changes in objective or subjective cognitive function mediated the relationship between depression symptom severity and workplace outcomes.
