This work is concerned with the search for new luminescent materials emitting in the orange-red color. We have synthesized YPO doped with Gd0.25% and/or Eu0.50% by hydrothermal method and YPO doped with Sm0.25% and/or Eu0.50% by ultraphosphate decomposition reaction. Phase purity was checked by FTIR and XRD. Excitation and emission spectra and fluorescence decay measurements were recorded at room temperature (RT). Emission spectra allow to determine the site symmetry of rare earth (RE) in the crystallographic structure of matrices. Weak Eu emission is detected from YPO:Gd, Eu under excitation at 273 nm. Sm levels were detected in excitation spectrum of YPO:Sm, Eu monitoring Eu principal emission at 618 nm. Excited states lifetimes of Gd and Sm sensitizers (S) decrease from mono-doped to co-doped matrices indicating an Energy transfers (ET) from S to Eu with a rate higher than 19%.

Solid-state electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, which enable a significant increase in storage capacity, are at the forefront of alternative energy storage systems due to their attractive properties such as wide electrochemical stability window, relatively superior contact stability against Li metal, inherently dendrite inhibition, and a wide range of temperature functionality. NASICON-type solid electrolytes are an exciting candidate within ceramic electrolytes due to their high ionic conductivity and low moisture sensitivity, making them a prime candidate for pure oxidic and hybrid ceramic-in-polymer composite electrolytes. Here, we report on producing pure and Y-doped Lithium Aluminum Titanium Phosphate (LATP) nanoparticles by spray-flame synthesis.

Article Synopsis
  • YPO nanophosphors were synthesized with various concentrations of terbium (Tb) using a co-precipitation method, resulting in highly crystalline nanoparticles with an average size of around 40 nm, confirmed by PXRD and TEM.
  • The emission spectra of the nanoparticles showed peaks at wavelengths of 491, 545, 588, and 624 nm under UV light, indicating they could be used for applications in white light emitting diodes and optical displays.
  • A thermoluminescence study was performed on the 5at.wt% Tb doped YPO samples post gamma radiation exposure, with kinetic parameters being calculated using a deconvolution method.

YPO has a xenotime-type structure with one-dimensional percolating channels along the -axis, and Ca-doped YPO exhibits proton conduction. In the present study, using first-principles calculations, we investigate the behaviors of proton solutions in 3 mol% Ca-doped YPO in the intermediate temperature range on the basis of point-defect formation energies, defect concentrations, and migration barriers. Although the charge-neutrality condition is mainly satisfied by and defects within the defect formation energy diagrams, the defect complex has the lowest formation energy and the highest concentration among examined defects under various temperature and partial-pressure conditions.

A polymer based nanocomposite (NC) material embedded with highly luminescent nanopowders could be promising for replacing traditional luminescent materials from a technological point of view. In this study, we have successfully obtained YPO: Sm /Polymer nanocomposite phosphor films by embedding YPO: Sm luminescent nanoparticles (NPs) for orange-light emitting diode (LED) applications. These luminescent NPs were synthesized using the sol gel method in different polymer matrices i.
