The effect of prostaglandin E2 (PgE2) injected with histamine in dogs with stomach fistula, involved a decrease of volume of secreted gastric juice, production of hydrochloric acid and pepsin lessening as compared with the findings obtained in the effect of histamine alone. The inhibition of gastric secretion increases in combined injection of PgE2 with histamine and acetylcholine. After intramuscular injection of PgE2 the content of sodium ions in the blood serum of rats decreases, the concentration of potassium becoming higher. In the mucose membrane of stomach the content of sodium and potassium increases; oxygen pressure in the mucous membrane of stomach decreases after the injection of PgE2.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that can affect the many tissues of the joint. There are no officially recognized disease-modifying therapies for clinical use at this time probably due to a lack of complete comprehension of the pathogenesis of the disease. In recent years, emerging regenerative therapy and treatments with stem cells both undifferentiated and differentiated cells have gained much attention as they can efficiently promote tissue repair and regeneration.

This study aimed to elucidate the pivotal enzymes and molecular mechanisms underlying PGE synthesis induced by central Ang II (angiotensin II) and its implications in the heightened oxidative stress and sympathetic outflow in hypertension.
Methods And Results: RVLM microinjections of PGE and Tempol were administered in Wistar-Kyoto rats.

High molecular weight hyaluronan (HMWH) inhibits hyperalgesia induced by diverse pronociceptive inflammatory mediators and their second messengers, in rats of both sexes. However, the hyperalgesia induced by ligands at 3 pattern recognition receptors, lipopolysaccharide (a toll-like receptor 4 agonist), lipoteichoic acid (a toll-like receptor 2/6 agonist), and nigericin (a NOD-like receptor family, pyrin domain containing 3 activator), and oxaliplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy are only attenuated in males. After gonadectomy or intrathecal administration of an antisense to G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor 30 (GPER) mRNA, HMWH produces antihyperalgesia in females.

Angiotensin II is well known to have an important influence on blood pressure, mediated via the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), but more recent studies have shown that angiotensin II may play an important additional role in eliciting pain via a distinct action at the angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2R). Signalling pathways that link activation of AT2R to a sensation of pain are, however, incompletely understood. Here we use rodent inflammatory pain models to confirm that selective activation of AT2R triggers aversive responses, and that these are abolished by either antagonism or genetic deletion of AT2R.

Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation in dogs. Despite having effective analgesic efficacy, prolonged oral administration has been associated with adverse effects. Transdermal delivery of ketoprofen has reduced the incidence of adverse effects in humans and could potentially be used in veterinary clinical medicine.
