Na,K-ATPase is an electrogenic pump found in cell plasma membranes that acts as the basic unit of animal life. This enzyme is highly susceptible to cardiotonic steroid (CTS) inhibition. The role of Na,K-ATPase in signaling has introduced a novel viewpoint regarding the enzyme's function, as the ouabain-binding site is involved in several physiological processes.

Objective: To evaluate the significance of genetic testing in neonatal- and infantile-onset genetic epilepsies (NIGEP) for enhanced molecular diagnosis with management implications.
Methods: A single-center cohort of 128 patients with NIGEP (aged 0-36 months) from 2010 to 2022 was retrospectively assessed. The diagnostic utility of genetic testing, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) and chromosome-based approaches, was surveyed to determine their impact on antiseizure medication adjustments and precision medicine.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among the elderly in China. Genetic predisposition is a recognized risk factor for COPD, with emerging as a promising candidate gene due to its involvement in smoking behavior and lung function. This study aimed to investigate the association between eight SNPs and COPD susceptibility in the Chinese elderly population.

Tubulointerstitial hypoxia is a key factor for lupus nephritis progression to end-stage renal disease. Numerous aquaporins (AQPs) are expressed by renal tubules and are essential for their proper functioning. The aim of this study is to characterize the tubular expression of AQP1, AQP2 and AQP3, which could provide a better understanding of tubulointerstitial stress during lupus nephritis.

Ageing is a major risk factor for cognitive and physical decline, but its mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study aimed to detect early cognitive and physical changes, and to analyze the pathway involved by monitoring two groups of mice: a young and an adult group. The study has identified the types of molecules involved in the hippocampus.
