Background: Evidence-based beta-blockers are essential in managing heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and are known to improve cardiovascular outcomes. Despite robust nascent guideline recommendations, studies indicate that beta-blockers are often underutilized or administered below target doses. This shivery issue is particularly relevant in Ethiopia, where comprehensive evaluations of beta-blocker utilization and dosing practices are limited.

The use of purified hydrocolloids extracted from waste-activated sludge has significant potential for preventing seed deterioration caused by aging. In this study, we compared the advantages and disadvantages of 3 types of purified hydrocolloid seed coatings from different waste sludges and one commercial seed coating at different spraying times (2, 4, 6, and 8). Compared with coated maize seeds, uncoated maize seeds underwent significant functional changes during the aging process according to the infrared spectroscopy results.

Promoters are crucial elements for controlling gene expression in cells, yet lactic acid bacteria (LAB) often lack a diverse set of available constitutive promoters with quantitative characterization. To enrich the LAB promoter library, this study focused on the known strong constitutive promoter P in LAB. Through error-prone PCR and dNTP analog-induced random mutagenesis, a library of 247 mutants of P was generated by using the red fluorescent protein (RFP) fluorescence intensity as a high-throughput screening indicator in Streptococcus thermophilus.

The objective of the present study was to optimize an enzymatic starch extraction process from cassava roots using a polyglacturonase (PGase) from a wild yeast strain (Wickerhanomyces anomalus). The supernatant of W. anomalus culture, with PGase activity, was used as source of enzyme (enzymatic extract, EE).

Waste milk (WM) is commonly used in calf feeding to reduce rearing costs; however, its effects on the innate immune response remain unexplored. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of WM on the innate immune response and inflammatory profile of pre-weaned dairy calves. Thirty male Holstein calves were assigned to receive pasteurized waste milk (PWM), saleable milk (SM), and WM (n = 10 in each group).
