The value of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs in the treatment of various sports-related injuries has been investigated by several groups. Despite these efforts, the experimental results are difficult to interpret, and very few investigations have focused on a single injury type in the acute phase. A double-blind study compared ibuprofen at a dose of 2,400 mg per day and a placebo in the 1st week of treatment of 61 acute ankle sprains with varying degrees of severity. Medical evaluation by the same physician was performed on the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 28th day following the injury. Subjective evaluation of pain, number of painful ligaments at palpation, passive mobilization induced pain, edema, and functional incapacity served as the clinical parameters. Although there were trends indicating a superiority of effectiveness in the treatment group, the differences between groups were not statistically significant.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for Management of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

Clin J Pain

January 2025

Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa, Florida, USA.

Objectives: Complex regional pain syndrome remains a challenging condition characterized by severe, persistent pain and a variety of inflammatory and trophic symptoms. This study aimed to analyze the current literature to evaluate hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)'s efficacy in treating complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), focusing on both sympathetically-maintained pain (SMP) and sympathetically-independent pain (SIP) subtypes.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed Clinical Queries using the MeSH term "Complex Regional Pain Syndromes" OR the keyword "CRPS" AND "Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy" OR the keyword "HBOT".

The P2YR is activated by UDP and UDP glucose and is involved in many human inflammatory diseases. Based on the molecular docking analysis of currently reported P2YR antagonists and the crystallographic overlap study between PPTN and compound , a series of 3-substituted 5-amidobenzoate derivatives were designed, synthesized, and identified as promising P2YR antagonists. The optimal compound (methyl 3-(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)-5-(2-(-tolyl) acetamido)benzoate, IC = 0.

Chlorin e6: a promising photosensitizer of anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory effects in PDT.

Nanomedicine (Lond)

January 2025

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of New Drug Research and Clinical Pharmacy, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, China.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) involves the activation of photosensitizers (PSs) by visible laser light at the target site to catalyze the production of reactive oxygen species, resulting in tumor cell death and blood vessel closure. The efficacy of PDT depends on the PSs, the amount of oxygen, and the intensity of the excitation laser. PSs have been extensively researched, and great efforts have been made to develop an ideal photosensitizer.

Heat-stress-induced oxidative and inflammatory responses were important factors contributing to chicken intestinal damage. The purpose of this study was based on the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of Physalis Calyx seu Fructus (Jin Deng Long, JDL) to investigate its efficacy and mechanism in relieving chicken heat stress damage. Primary chicken embryo duodenum cells and 90 30-day-old specific-pathogen-free chicken were randomly divided into control and JDL groups to establish heat stress models and .
