Molecular imaging of infection has evolved since its inception. This articles covers a number of infectious processes, including osteomyelitis, diabetic foot infections, periprosthetic infections, cardiovascular infections (including those due to implantable devices), abdominal infections, and fever of unknown origin. Planar, SPECT, SPECT/CT, F-FDG PET/CT, and PET/MRI are also discussed. Molecular imaging of infection is a complex topic. Knowledge of the available modalities allows the imager to select the highest-yield study to answer the clinical question.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a significant role in tumor progression, and regulating miRNA expression with small molecules may offer a new approach to cancer therapy. Among them, miRNA-20b has been found to be dysregulated in several cancers, including nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Herein, an in silico high-throughput computer screen was conducted to identify small molecules that downregulate miR-20b using the three-dimensional structure of the Dicer binding site on pre-miR-20b.

is a critical priority pathogen and causes life-threatening acute and biofilm-associated chronic infections. The choice of suitable treatment for complicated infections requires lengthy culturing for species identification from swabs or an invasive biopsy. To date, no fast, pathogen-specific diagnostic tools for infections are available.

is an intracellular parasite capable of crossing the placenta in pregnancy and infecting the developing fetus, leading to various congenital anomalies and even abortion. Acute infection is responsible for almost all cases of congenital toxoplasmosis in immunocompetent pregnant women. Prenatal screening for acute toxoplasmosis primarily involves maternal serology and fetal ultrasound imaging.

Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumors derived from chromaffin cells, with 80-85% originating in the adrenal medulla and 15-20% from extra-adrenal chromaffin tissues (paragangliomas). Approximately 30-40% of PPGLs have a hereditary component, making them one of the most genetically predisposed tumor types. Recent advances in genetic research have classified PPGLs into three molecular clusters: pseudohypoxia-related, kinase-signaling, and -signaling pathway variants.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder with various contributing factors. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying PCOS is essential for developing effective treatments. This study aimed to identify hub genes and investigate potential molecular mechanisms associated with PCOS through a combination of bioinformatics analysis and Mendelian randomization (MR).
