Background: SuperAgers—individuals age 80+ with episodic memory performance at least as good as those 20‐30 years younger—provide a unique perspective on cognitive resilience and resistance in aging. The SuperAging Research Initiative (SRI), spearheaded by The University of Chicago and involving multiple academic partners, investigates factors underpinning robust cognitive aging. One key SRI project, leverages a fully remote data collection paradigm to: 1) discern activity patterns that characterize SuperAgers and 2) explore the 'complexity hypothesis in aging'—whether dynamic physiological responsiveness is a hallmark of exceptional cognitive aging.

Background: VG‐3927 is a highly potent, selective, brain penetrant, oral small molecule TREM2 agonist that is currently under development for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). TREM2, a receptor expressed on microglia in the brain is critical to microglial function in health and in disease. Among microglia‐associated AD risk genes, partial loss‐of‐function variants of TREM2 confer 2‐3 fold increase in risk for developing AD, motivating efforts to identify pharmacological agonists targeting TREM2 as a therapeutic option.

Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is a devastating complication of epilepsy with possible sex-specific risk factors, although the exact relationship between sex and SUDEP remains unclear. To investigate this, we studied Kcna1 knockout (Kcna1) mice, which lack voltage-gated Kv1.1 channel subunits and are widely used as a SUDEP model that mirrors key features in humans.

Introduction: Heart failure (HF) is a complex clinical syndrome. Accurate risk stratification and early diagnosis of HF are challenging as its signs and symptoms are non-specific. We propose to address this global challenge by developing the STRATIFYHF artificial intelligence-driven decision support system (DSS), which uses novel analytical methods in determining the risk, diagnosis and prognosis of HF.

The wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) has emerged as a valuable tool used for temporary protection from sudden cardiac death. However, since the WCD uses surface electrodes to detect arrhythmias, it is susceptible to inappropriate detection. Although shock conversion rates for the WCD are reported to be high for detected events, its efficacy in clinical practice tends to be degraded by patient noncompliance.
