Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy has great potential for laboratory blood tests. The overall aim of this study is to develop a microfluidic sensor for determining the physical properties and hematological parameters of blood based on its dielectric spectra. Impedance was measured in flowing blood to prevent aggregation and sedimentation at frequencies between 40 Hz and 110 MHz.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major global health concern, affecting millions of people worldwide. HBV is part of the hepadnaviridae family and one of the primary causes of acute and chronic liver infections, leading to conditions such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Understanding the intracellular transport and genome repair mechanisms of HBV is crucial for developing new drugs, which-in combination with immune modulators-may contribute to potential cures.

This short review bridges two biological fields: ribosomes and nucleosomes-two nucleoprotein assemblies that, along with many viruses, share proteins featuring long filamentous segments at their N- or C-termini. A central hypothesis is that these extensions and tails perform analogous functions in both systems. The evolution of these structures appears closely tied to the emergence of regulatory networks and signaling pathways, facilitating increasingly complex roles for ribosomes and nucleosome alike.

Peroxisomes are ubiquitous, dynamic, oxidative organelles with key functions in cellular lipid metabolism and redox homeostasis. They have been linked to healthy ageing, neurodegeneration, cancer, the combat of pathogens and viruses, and infection and immune responses. Their biogenesis relies on several peroxins (encoded by genes), which mediate matrix protein import, membrane assembly, and peroxisome multiplication.

Dominant optic atrophy (DOA) is the most commonly inherited optic neuropathy. The majority of DOA is caused by mutations in the gene, which encodes a dynamin-related GTPase located to the mitochondrion. OPA1 has been shown to regulate mitochondrial dynamics and promote fusion.
