Alzheimer's disease (AD) poses a significant public health issue. Despite the fact that today there are several methods of maintenance therapy, one of the most widely used methods is designed to correct the deficiency of acetylcholine. In the search for new potential inhibitors of cholinesterase enzymes, eight new derivatives of 3-oxo- or 2,3-indolo-triterpenic acid conjugated with amino-quinuclidine bicyclic cores were designed and synthesized.

Background: Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of death among infants aged between one month and one year. Altered enzyme activities or expression of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) have been observed in SIDS patients that might lead to disturbed autonomic function and, together with other risk factors, might trigger SIDS. To explore the contribution of AChE and BChE from a genomic viewpoint, we sought to investigate the association between SIDS and selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the and genes.

Many plants are reported to enhance cognition in amnesic-animal models. The metabolite profile of fruit methanolic extract (CDFME) was characterized by LC-QTOF-MS/MS, and its total phenolics content (TPC) and total flavonoids content (TFC) were determined. In parallel, its cognitive-enhancing effect on scopolamine (SCOP)-induced AD in rats was evaluated.

Glyphosate (Gly) is a widely-used herbicide in food production, while, the residue of which due to the long-term and excessive overspray poses serious threats to public health. The development of reliable methods for its sensitive detection is of great urgency. In this study, a novel ratiometric fluorescent nanosensor by encapsulating N-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) and gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) in zeolitic imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) as the dual-emissive fluorescence probes at 410 and 650 nm, respectively, was constructed for Gly detection.

The search and identification of inhibitory molecules from novel natural sources, such as pisco grape pomace extract obtained by green techniques, may help to develop agents with therapeutic potential that are beneficial to health with fewer adverse effects than drugs. Many drugs act as enzyme inhibitors, decreasing their activity and thus correcting a metabolic imbalance. This study aims to identify bioactive molecules with antioxidant and inhibitory activity over acetylcholinesterase and cyclooxygenase enzymes present in pisco grape pomace green extracts.
