Coinage metal clusters are of great importance for a wide range of scientific fields, ranging from microscopy to catalysis. Despite their clear fundamental and technological importance, the experimental structural determination of copper clusters has attracted little attention. We fill this gap by elucidating the structure of cationic copper clusters through infrared (IR) photodissociation spectroscopy of Cu -Ar complexes. Structures of Cu ( n = 3-10) are unambiguously assigned based on the comparison of experimental IR spectra in the 70-280 cm spectral range with spectra calculated using density functional theory. Whereas Cu and Cu are planar, starting from n = 5, Cu clusters adopt 3D structures. Each successive cluster size is composed of its predecessor with a single atom adsorbed onto the face, giving evidence of a stepwise growth.

Traditional homogeneous Fenton systems face limitations, including a narrow pH range, potential secondary pollution, and poor repeatability. In this study, these bottlenecks in tetracycline wastewater treatment were addressed with using carbonized porous polyethyleneimine-grafted lignin microspheres (PLMs) supported Fe-loading catalysts (PLMs/Fe-C). An optimized PLMs/Fe-C catalyst under specific conditions (carbonization temperature: 350 °C, PLMs: Fe = 1:1, and alkali lignin: PEI = 1:4) was developed, which proved to be an efficient Fenton-like catalyst for tetracycline (TC) degradation.

Widespread geogenic uranium (U) contamination of Indian groundwaters is of serious concern; yet little is known of the dominant forms and release mechanisms of U in these aquifers. Interestingly, manganese (Mn)-rich aquifers, highly buffered by dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and saturated with rhodochrosite [MnCO], have shown low U (

Compared to traditional liquid electrolytes, solid electrolytes have received widespread attention due to their higher safety. In this work, a vinyl functionalized metal-organic framework porous material (MIL-101(Cr)-NH-Met, noted as MCN-M) is synthesized by postsynthetic modification. A novel three-dimensional hybrid gel composite solid electrolyte (GCSE-P/MCN-M) is successfully prepared via in situ gel reaction of a mixture containing multifunctional hybrid crosslinker (MCN-M), lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), ethylene carbonate (EC), diethylene glycol monomethyl ether methacrylate (EGM) and polyethylene (vinylidene fluoridee) (PVDF).

Gelatin is a natural hydrocolloid with excellent film-forming properties, high processability, and tremendous potential in the field of edible coatings and food packaging. However, its reinforcing by materials such as cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) is often necessary to improve its mechanical behavior, including shape memory properties. Since the interaction between these polymers is complex and its mechanism still remains unclear, this work aimed to study the effect of low concentrations of CNC (2, 6, and 10 weight%) on the molecular organization, thermomechanical, and shape memory properties in mammalian gelatin-based composite films at low moisture content (~10 weight% dry base).
