Aim: To improve the treatment results of patients with osteochondral defects of large joints.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 30 animals (60 knee joints) aged 1.5-3 years. All animals were divided into 3 groups of 10 each, depending on the method of replacement of the osteo-chondral defect.
Results: 6 months after intervention using the proposed method, a good prognosis can be given and good long-term results expected despite the full axial load on the joint a few hours after the operation.

A 13-year-old boy was referred to orthopedic surgery for chronic intermittent pain and swelling of the left knee. Initial imaging was consistent with osteochondritis dissecans of the femoral condyle. Follow-up imaging demonstrated unexpected progression, with a mass extending into the notch, replacing the anterior cruciate ligament, and eroding the femoral and tibial condyles.

More than 70 million adults in the United States are impacted by osteoarthritis (OA). Symptomatic articular cartilage loss that progresses to debilitating OA is being diagnosed more frequently and earlier in life, such that a growing number of active patients are faced with life-altering healthcare decisions at increasingly younger ages. Joint replacement surgeries, in the form of various artificial arthroplasties, are reliable operations, especially for older (>65 years), more sedentary patients with end-stage OA, but have major limitations for younger, more active patients.

Background: Nosocomephobia, a type of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), is a diagnosis of an extreme fear of hospitals that can hinder current/future medical care. There is little research on how nosocomephobia affects elective surgery or how acupuncture can help patients cope.
Methods: Using the transactional model of stress/coping, this qualitative case study examined the role of acupuncture in nosocomephobia patients' elective surgery appraisal processes.
