Dyslexia is one of the most common language-based learning disabilities. Teaching a second language (L2) to dyslexic students is still a contested issue among educators. Participation of Children With Developmental Coordination Disorder: A Scoping Review.

Child Care Health Dev

March 2025

Graduate Program in Physical Therapy, Departament of Physical Therapy, Universidade Federal de São Carlos, São Carlos, Brazil.

Background: Children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) may have participation restrictions; however, there is little information about the specific characteristics of the participation of children with this condition. Given the relevance of participation as an outcome of physiotherapeutic interventions, the objective of this study was to provide a broad review of studies on participation in children with DCD.

Methods: We mapped the literature using a scoping review, through the MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL and Web of Science databases to identify studies on participation in children with DCD published between 2001 and 2021.

Fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4), a key regulator of lipid metabolism and inflammation, has been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study investigated the effects of FABP4 inhibition during gestation and lactation on offspring neurodevelopment using the selective FABP4 inhibitor BMS309403. Female mice received BMS309403 (15 mg/kg) via oral gavage from two weeks before mating to postnatal day 28 (P28).

IFN-γ signaling links ventriculomegaly to choroid plexus and ependyma dysfunction following maternal immune activation.

Maternal immune activation (MIA) is a principal environmental risk factor contributing to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and can be causally linked to ASD symptoms. In our study, we found that MIA triggered by poly (I: C) injection caused ventriculomegaly in offspring due to the dysfunction of the choroid plexus (Chp) and ependyma. We subsequently identified a sustained enhancement of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) signaling in the brain and serum of MIA offspring.
