Periodontitis, a widespread inflammatory disease, is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. While mechanical periodontal therapy benefits the periodontal disease treatment, adjunctive periodontal therapy is also necessary. Topically applied anti-inflammatory agents have gained considerable attention in periodontitis therapy.

Background: The KDIGO recommendation in acute kidney injury (AKI) patients requiring kidney replacement therapy is to deliver a Urea Kt/V of 1.3 for intermittent thrice weekly hemodialysis, and an effluent volume of 20-25 ml/kg/hour when using continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Considering that prior studies have suggested equivalent outcomes when using CRRT-prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy (PIRRT) effluent doses below 20 mL/kg/h, our group investigated the possible benefits of low effluent volume CRRT-PIRRT (12.

Bioabsorbable textile scaffolds are promising for bone tissue engineering applications. Their tuneable, porous, fibre based architecture resembles that of native extracellular matrix, and they can sustain tissue growth while being gradually absorbed in the body. In this work, immortalized mouse calvaria preosteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells were cultured in vitro on two warp-knitted bioabsorbable spacer fabric scaffolds made of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), to investigate their osteogenic properties.

An experimental chimeric hepatitis E virus vaccine elicits both local and systemic immune responses.

Introduction: The development of a hepatitis E virus (HEV) vaccine is critical, with ORF2 capsid protein as the main target. We previously demonstrated that oral coadministration of recombinant ORF2 with immunomodulatory bacterium-like-particles (IBLP) induces a specific immune response in mice, particularly using IBLP derived from IBL027 (IBLP027), which was effective in eliciting a local humoral response. IBLP are non-live bacteria with adjuvant and carrier properties, serving as a platform for exposing proteins or antigens fused to LysM (lysine motif) domains, protein modules that bind to cell wall polysaccharides like peptidoglycan.
