The aim of the study was to develop a method for early detection and identification of fungal contamination of building materials using an electronic nose. Therefore, the laboratory experiments based on the analysis of the air in the vicinity of fungal isolates potentially found in the building materials were performed. The results revealed that the employed gas sensors array consisting of MOS-type sensors enables the detection of the differences among the examined samples of fungi and distinguishing between the non-contaminated and contaminated samples, shortly after fungal contamination occurs. Electronic nose readouts were analysed using Principal Component Analysis and the results were verified with standard chromatographic analysis by means of SPME-GC/MS method, which proved that gas sensors array can be applied for early detection of fungal contamination.

Objectives: The data were collected to obtain the complete genome sequence of Pseudarthrobacter sp. NIBRBAC000502770, isolated from the rhizosphere of Sasamorpha in a heavy metal-contaminated coal mine in Hongcheon, Republic of Korea. The objective was to explore the strain's genetic potential for plant growth promotion and heavy metal resistance, particularly arsenate and copper.

A wide range of pollutants, including heavy metals, endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), residual pesticides, and pharmaceuticals, are present in various water systems, many of which strongly drive the proliferation and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), heightening the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) crisis and creating a critical challenge for environmental and health management worldwide. This study addresses the impact of anthropogenic pollutants on AMR through an extensive analysis of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) in urban wastewater, source water, and drinking water supplies in India. Results indicated that bla and bla were the dominant ARGs across all water systems, underscoring the prevalence and dominance of resistance against β-lactam antibiotics.

In recent years, oxidoreductase enzymes such as laccases have received considerable attention for their ability to degrade and eliminate organic micropollutants from contaminated water in a process known as enzyme-based wastewater treatment. Thus, methods to produce high laccase activity in water are a point of focus, with white-rot fungi being highlighted as a tool in this context. This study, therefore, explored the applied approach of direct addition of mushroom spawn of the white-rot fungi Pleurotus ostreatus into water and its potential for laccase production under different conditions.

There is an urgent need to develop effective and sustainable methods to decrease sulfonamide (SA) contamination of soil. Herein, a non-homogeneous system of zero-valent metal-biochar-based composites was proposed and tested for persulfate (PS) activation. This system employed zero-valent iron (Fe) as an electron donor to catalyze the cleavage of the OO bond in PS, thereby generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) that degrade SAs.
