Published: April 2019

Influence of polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCs) with different functional units on the hydration heat and hydration products of C₃A-gypsum was investigated. Three kinds of PCs with different monomers were discussed. It was seen that PCs mainly shortened the induction stage of C₃A-gypsum hydration, and the amount of remaining gypsum was related to the duration of the induction stage. The second heat flow peak of the sample with PCs was higher than that of the blank. Moreover, PC intercalation occurred during the hydration.

Fluidity influences the use of backfill materials in the mining industry. A new backfill material-modified magnesium slag-based backfill materials (MFPB)-is made from solid waste from coal and metallurgy. We focus on the compatibility of polycarboxylate water reducing agent (SP) with MFPB and its effect on MFPB performance.

Orifice barrier preferences for coronal restoration of root filled teeth by endodontists and other dental practitioners in Australia: A questionnaire survey.

J Dent

December 2024

Melbourne Dental School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, The University of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; eviDent Foundation, South Yarra, Victoria, Australia.

Objectives: To compare the use of orifice barriers (OB) in root-filled teeth (RFT) between specialist endodontic practitioners (SEP) and general and other specialist practitioners (GDP+), and identify common materials, reasons for selection, and techniques.

Methods: An online survey was distributed to SEP and GDP+ practising in Australia. Demographic and multiple-choice questions relating to material selection and technique choices were asked to evaluate and relate usage patterns to practising and training backgrounds.

Article Synopsis
  • The increasing amount of plastic waste is a major environmental issue, prompting research into thermochemical recycling methods for various plastics, especially polycarbonate (PC).
  • This study focuses on using thermo-catalytic treatment to recover valuable monomers, specifically bisphenol A (BPA), from polycarbonate by optimizing pyrolysis conditions and using carbon dioxide (CO) as an atmospheric gas.
  • Results showed that utilizing high-porosity MgO catalysts significantly increased BPA yield, with the most effective catalyst yielding over double the amount compared to traditional non-catalytic methods.

An addition of carbon nanostructures to cement paste is problematic due to the difficulties in obtaining homogenous mixtures. The paper reports on a more effective way of mixing carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) in cement pastes. The additional biological impact of the studied nanomodified cement was analyzed in the case of two moss species' vitality.
