Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a significant global health concern linked to various cancers, particularly cervical cancer. Timely and accurate detection of HPV is crucial for effective management and prevention strategies. Traditional laboratory-based HPV testing methods often suffer from limitations such as long turnaround times, restricted accessibility, and the need for trained personnel, especially in resource-limited settings.

Optimized Synthetic Correlated Diffusion Imaging for Improving Breast Cancer Tumor Delineation.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON N2L 3G1, Canada.

Breast cancer is a significant cause of death from cancer in women globally, highlighting the need for improved diagnostic imaging to enhance patient outcomes. Accurate tumor identification is essential for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring, emphasizing the importance of advanced imaging technologies that provide detailed views of tumor characteristics and disease. Recently, a new imaging modality named synthetic correlated diffusion imaging (CDI) has been showing promise for enhanced prostate cancer delineation when compared to existing MRI imaging modalities.

Blades are the core components of rotating machinery, and the blade vibration status directly impacts the working efficiency and safe operation of the equipment. The blade tip timing (BTT) technique provides a solution for blade vibration monitoring and is currently a prominent topic in research on blade vibration issues. Nevertheless, the non-stationary factors present in actual engineering applications introduce inaccuracies in the BTT technique, resulting in blade vibration measurement errors.

Measuring Precipitation via Microwave Bands with a High-Accuracy Setup.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Peloponnese, Acadimaikou G.K. Vlachou, 22100 Tripolis, Greece.

The urgent need for timely and accurate precipitation estimations in the face of ongoing climate change and the increasing frequency and/or intensity of extreme weather events underscores the necessity for innovative approaches. Recently, several studies have focused on estimating the precipitation rate through induced attenuation of radio frequency (RF) signals, which are abundant in modern communication systems. Most research has concentrated on frequencies exceeding 10 GHz, as attenuation at lower frequencies is minimal, posing measurement challenges.
