Peripherally projecting neurons undergo significant morphological changes during development and regeneration. This neuroplasticity is controlled by growth factors, which bind specific membrane bound kinase receptors that in turn activate two major intracellular signal transduction cascades. Besides the PI3 kinase/AKT pathway, activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) plays a key role in regulating the mode and speed of peripheral axon outgrowth in the adult stage. Cell culture studies and animal models revealed that ERK signaling is mainly involved in elongative axon growth in vitro and long-distance nerve regeneration in vivo. Here, we review ERK dependent morphological plasticity in adult peripheral neurons and evaluate the therapeutic potential of interfering with regulators of ERK signaling to promote nerve regeneration. Introduction: Resveratrol, a polyphenolic compound commonly found in natural plants and fruits, exhibits potential in preventing optic nerve damage in glaucoma, as indicated by several animal studies. However, there is presently a dearth of relevant evidence available for comprehensive summarization.
Methods: In this study, we conducted an extensive search across 7 electronic databases, encompassing all pertinent animal studies for a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) currently lacks effective treatment options, and the restoration of neurological function remains a major challenge, with unmet clinical needs. Research has indicated that adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) can be induced to differentiate into neural-induced adipose-derived stem cells (NI-ADSCs) under specific inductive conditions, exhibiting excellent neuroregenerative capabilities. ADSCs were obtained from female SD rats and induced into NI-ADSCs.

Glial cells are key for this process, but their contribution is still not well defined. We followed oligodendrocytes in the visual system of adult zebrafish during regeneration of the optic nerve at 6, 24, and 72 hours post-lesion and at 7 and 14 days post-lesion via the sox10:tagRFP transgenic line and confocal microscopy.

An 18-year-old female patient presented with a 1-month history of low back pain, which had worsened and was accompanied by radiating pain in the right lower limb for half a month. She was admitted to our hospital with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings suggesting calcification of the L3/4 disc and a large intraspinal mass at the L2-4 level. The patient's symptoms did not improve with conservative treatment, and her muscle strength rapidly declined.

Introduction: Remyelination of demyelinated axons can occur as an endogenous repair mechanism in multiple sclerosis (MS), but its efficacy varies between both MS individuals and lesions. The molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive remyelination remain poorly understood. Here, we studied the relation between microglia activation and remyelination activity in MS.
