Failure to respond to influenza vaccination correlated with a decreased number and percentage of IgD-bearing PBL and a dampened lymphocyte response to PWM in a subset of healthy aged volunteers. These subjects had normal levels of serum immunoglobulins, intact T cell function, and normal numbers of E-rosetting cells.

Background: In recent months, Bordetella pertussis has reappeared after maintaining a low rate for many years. Although pertussis is usually characterized by a favorable course, several factors can contribute to the severity of the disease, such as mixed respiratory infections. In this study, we evaluate B.

Background: The prevalence of patient (and their relatives/friends) aggression and violence against healthcare professionals in general, and physicians in particular, is a recognized problem worldwide. While numerous risk factors for such aggression and violence from patients (and their relatives/friends) have been identified, little is known about which risk factors are perceived as relatively most important in a specific context and among a particular group, and about the potentially differing views on the relative importance. This lack of insight prohibits preventive measures being tailored to address the main risk factors.

Circulating growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) increases in response to inflammation and tissue damage. Its association with functional prognosis in cerebral infarction and subarachnoid hemorrhage is established; however, its role in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and its relationship with Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score, an indicator of systemic organ damage in TBI, remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the correlation between GDF-15 and functional outcomes at discharge in patients with TBI and stroke, including its association with SOFA scores in TBI.

The association between GDF15 and clinical factors and its prognostic value in elderly multimorbid patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) have not been well unknown.
Methods: This exploratory analysis is part of the Prospective mUlticenteR obServational stUdy of patIenTs with Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction study (N=1231), an ongoing, prospective, multicentre observational study of acute decompensated HFpEF (UMIN000021831).

Introduction: Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is the most widely used artificial liver support system in liver failure patients.
Cases: We report five cases of viral hepatitis induced ALF 3 adult (case I, II, III) and two pediatric (case IV and V) patients not adequately responding to standard medical treatment (SMT). Case I and II were acute hepatitis B infections while case III was an antenatal case with acute hepatitis E.
