An efficient palladium-catalyzed route for tandem synthesis of imidazole-fused polyheterocycles from 2-vinyl imidazoles and aryl halides is described. The sequentially accomplished process comprises intermolecular Heck arylation of 2-vinyl imidazoles followed by an intramolecular aerobic oxidative C-H amination reaction promoted by the same Pd catalyst. This Pd-catalyzed tandem approach offers a straightforward protocol for the assembly of benzimidazo/phenanthroimidazo[1,2-a]quinolines in moderate to high yields, serving as a useful tool for the discovery of fluorescent materials.

Singly occupied molecular orbital (SOMO) activation of in situ generated enamines has achieved great success in (asymmetric) α-functionalization of carbonyl compounds. However, examples on the use of this activation mode in the transformations of other functional groups are rare, and the combination of SOMO activation with transition metal catalysis is still less explored. In the area of deoxygenative functionalization of amides, intermediates such as iminium ions and enamines were often generated in situ to result in the formation of α-functionalized amines.

In this study, a highly porous muffin polyhedral barium (Ba) ̵ organic framework (BaTATB; HTATB = 4,4',4″--triazine-2,4,6-triyl-tribenzoic acid) was synthesized solvothermally. The three-dimensional honeycomb pore architectures were densely populated with Lewis acidic Ba(II) metal sites and basic nitrogen-rich triazines.

A class of generated Lewis acid (LA) activated acridine complexes is reported, which act as potent photochemical catalysts for the oxidation of a variety of protected secondary amines. Acridine/LA complexes exhibit tunable excited state reduction potentials ranging from +2.07 to 2.

Appropriately designed catalysts help to minimise the energy required to convert the energy-poor feedstock HO into energy-rich molecular H. Herein, two families of pyridazine-based cryptates, mononuclear [MLi](BF) and mixed metal dinuclear [MCuLi](BF) (M = Fe, Co, Cu or Zn; Li is the Schiff base cryptand made by 2 : 3 condensation of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine and 3,6-diformylpyridazine), are investigated as potential electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in MeCN with acetic acid as the proton source. The synthesis and structures of a new mixed metal cryptate, [ZnCuLi](BF), and the tetrafluoroborate analogue of the previously reported perchlorate salt of the mono-zinc cryptate, [ZnLi](BF)·0.

This study presents the synthesis of a Cd(II) based hydrophobic three dimensional crystalline network material (CNM), [Cd(L)(LH)(bpe)], {L = {4,4'-(hexafluroisopropylidine)bis(benzoate)} and 1,2-di(4-pyridyl) ethylene (bpe)}, 1(Cd), by employing the slow-diffusion method. The three-dimensional structure of 1(Cd) was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), FT-IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Subsequently, post-synthetic modification of 1(Cd) with Cu(II) at room temperature led to the formation of isostructural 1(Cu) with partial substitution.
