Gaseous CePO has been identified by Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry during vaporization of CeO and magnesium diphosphate from tungsten double, two-temperature effusion cell. Structure and molecular parameters of gaseous cerium phosphate under study were determined using quantum chemical calculations. On the basis of equilibrium constants measured for gas-phase reaction, standard formation enthalpy of CePO was determined to be -508 ± 41 kJ ⋅ mol at the temperature 298 K.

ConspectusChemists have long pursued harnessing light energy and photoexcitation processes for synthetic transformations. Ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) in high-valent metal complexes often triggers bond homolysis, generating oxidized ligand-centered radicals and reduced metal centers. While photoinduced oxidative activations can be enabled, this process, typically seen as photochemical decomposition, remains underexplored in catalytic applications.

Cerium and cobalt loaded Co-Ce/TiO catalyst prepared by impregnation method was investigated for photothermal catalytic toluene oxidation. Based on catalyst characterizations (XPS, EPR and H-TPR), redox cycle between Co and TiO (Co + Ti ↔ Co + Ti) results in the formation of Co, Ti and oxygen vacancies, which play important roles in toluene catalytic oxidation reaction. The introduction of Ce brings in the dual redox cycles (Co + Ti ↔ Co + Ti, Co + Ce ↔ Co + Ce), further promoting the elevation of reaction sites amount.

Enhancement of Mineralization Ability and Water Resistance of Vanadium-Based Catalysts for Catalytic Oxidation of Chlorobenzene by Platinum Loading.

Xiamen Key Laboratory of Materials for Gaseous Pollutant Control, Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiamen 361021, China.

The design of a catalyst with multifunctional sites is one of the effective methods for low-temperature catalytic oxidation of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs). The loss of redox sites and competitive adsorption of HO prevalent in the treatment of industrial exhaust gases are the main reasons for the weak mineralization ability and poor water vapor resistance of V-based catalysts. In this work, platinum (Pt) is selected to combine with the V/CeO catalyst, which provides more redox sites and HO dissociative activation sites and further enhances its catalytic performance.

Catalytic destruction is an ascendant technology for the abatement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) originating from solvent-based industrial processes. The varied composition tends to influence each VOC's catalytic behavior in the reaction mixture. We investigated the catalytic destruction of multi-component VOCs including dichloromethane (DCM) and ethyl acetate (EA), as representatives from pharmaceutical waste gases, over co-supported HPO-RuO/CeO catalyst.

Promoted oxygen adsorption on porous CeO cubes with abundant oxygen vacancies for efficient gaseous formaldehyde removal.

State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, Key Laboratory of Nonferrous Metal Chemistry and Resources Utilization of Gansu Province, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, 730000, PR China. Electronic address:

Photocatalytic degradation stands as a promising method for eliminating gas-phase pollutants, with the efficiency largely hinging on the capture of photogenerated electrons by oxygen. In this work, we synthesized a porous CeO single crystal cube with abundant oxygen vacancies as photocatalyst, employing urea as a pore-forming agent and for gas-phase formaldehyde degradation. Compared with the CeO cubes without pores, the porous ones were superior in specific surface area, akin to conventional CeO nanoparticles.
