Introduction: polymorphism has been associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) in some populations.
Objective: To investigate the frequencies of a genetic polymorphism of Vitamin D receptor () in patients with T2D and control subjects and investigate the role of 1,25(OH)D in the expression of pro-inflammatory markers in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).
Methods: The case-control study was conducted in 160 patients with T2D and 160 control subjects, men and women (30-74 years old). The genotype and allele frequency of polymorphisms were determined in these subjects. Subsequently a subgroup of 40 subjects was included from which PBMCs were removed. , the culture medium was supplemented with two different concentrations of 1,25(OH)D(10 M and 10 M). The expression profiles of TNFα and mRNA were analysed by qPCR, and GAPDH and β-actin were used as housekeeping genes.
Results: The control subjects have an increased frequency of the FF genotype. In subjects with T2D, the ff genotype was associated with higher HOMA-IR values than individuals with genotype Ff ( = 0.021). study in PBMCs showed differential expression of TNFα mRNA by genotype, with a lower expression of this marker of inflammation in FF genotype subjects at a concentration of 10 M of 1,25(OH)D.
Conclusion: Our data suggest that VDR polymorphism is associated with T2D, and the genotypes Ff and ff of this variant show a reduced response or resistance to the anti-inflammatory action of VitD, which could indicate a functional role of polymorphism of VDR.

The current study was deployed to evaluate the role of metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) and miR-155, along with the inflammatory markers, TNFα and IL-6, and the adhesion molecule, cluster of differentiation 106 (CD106), in Behçet's disease (BD) pathogenesis. The study also assessed MALAT1/miR-155 as promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for BD. The current retrospective case-control study included 74 Egyptian BD patients and 50 age and sex-matched controls.

Unlabelled: Klinefelter syndrome (KS) is the most common sex chromosomal aneuploidy in males (47,XXY karyotype in 80-90% of cases), primarily characterized by hypergonadotropic hypogonadism and infertility. It encompasses a broad phenotypic spectrum, leading to variability in neurocognitive and psychosocial outcomes among affected individuals. Despite the recognized correlation between KS and various neuropsychiatric conditions, studies investigating potential sleep disorders, particularly in pediatric subjects, are lacking.

This study aimed to investigate the role of Piezo1 in nasal epithelial barrier dysfunction in allergic rhinitis (AR) using both in vitro and in vivo experimental methods. A total of 79 human nasal mucosal samples were collected, including 43 from AR patients and 36 from healthy controls. Additionally, 12 BALB/c mice were used for the in vivo experiments.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to determine whether muscle mass and function can be effectively maintained without relying on animal-based protein sources. We evaluate the quality, digestibility, and essential amino acid profiles of plant-based proteins to understand their potential in preventing and managing sarcopenia.
Recent Finding: Recent studies indicate that while animal-based proteins have traditionally been considered the gold standard for supporting muscle protein synthesis, certain plant-based protein blends, fortified with leucine or other essential amino acids, can produce comparable anabolic responses.

Background: Serum and urinary uromodulin are emerging as potential cardiovascular risk factors. The aim of our study was to determine uromodulin in both serum and urine to evaluate their potential as early cardiovascular risk markers and markers of kidney function in children and young adults.
Methods: This case-control study included 72 participants - 42 children and young adults with chronic kidney disease stages 1-2 and 30 healthy controls.
