The traditional view of folliclestimulating hormone (FSH) as a reproductive hormone is changing. It has been shown that FSH receptors (FSHRs) are expressed in various extra-gonadal tissues and mediate the biological effects of FSH at those sites. Molecular, animal, epidemiologic, and clinical data suggest that elevated serum FSH may play a significant role in the evolution of bone loss and obesity, as well as contributing to cardiovascular and cancer risk. This review summarizes recent data on FSH action beyond reproduction.

Purpose: To compare ovarian function measures in euthyroid women with normogonadotropic anovulation in subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) or thyroid autoimmunity (TAI) to those without thyroid dysfunction.
Design: A prospective open-label cohort study analyzed anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone, estradiol and testosterone concentrations, ovarian volume, and polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM) incidence between women with and without SCH or TAI in two study arms: polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian dysfunction (HPOD).
Results: The prevalence of circulating thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) was higher in the PCOS compared to the HPOD arm (p = 0.
Purpose: We aimed to investigate possible hormonal changes following microdissection testicular sperm extraction (mTESE) in men with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) across three referral centers.
Materials And Methods: We prospectively analyzed data from 102 consecutive NOA men. Patients with prior hormonal therapies were excluded.

Background: Previous studies have demonstrated associations of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) with sex-related hormones; however, findings were inconsistent. Sex-specific impacts and pathways through which adiposity influences associations are not completely understood. We sought to evaluate sex-specific associations of POPs serum concentration with sex-related hormones and to explore pathways through which adiposity may modify associations.

Background: We previously reported that the intake of fruits and vegetables (FV) known to have high pesticide contamination in the US food supply is related to lower sperm counts. Whether the same is true for ovarian reserve is unknown.
Methods: Participants were 633 females, 21-45 years, presenting to an academic fertility center.
