Background/objectives: The aim of this study was to determine a cut-off value for the SNAQ according to both the MNA long and MNA short forms and to assess whether the SNAQ can predict malnutrition or risk of malnutrition in the elderly.
Subjects/methods: Nutritional status was assessed both by the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) long and short forms. All demographic characteristics, mental status, depressive mood, functional status, and frailty were determined. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to calculate the cut-off of the SNAQ according to both the MNA long and short forms for malnutrition or risk of malnutrition. Reliability and validation of the SNAQ was analysed.
Results: We included 905 community-dwelling elderly, but those with middle-stage dementia (MMSE score <18, n = 30) were excluded. The mean age ± standard deviation (SD) was 71.4 ± 5.5 years (49.3% female and 50.7% male). The prevalence of well-nourished, risk of malnutrition or malnutrition were 55.2%, 44.8%, respectively according to the MNA-long form. The prevalence of elderly at risk of future weight loss (SNAQ score of ≤14) was 31.0% (n = 268; 66.0% female, 34.0% male). The area under the curve (AUC) for SNAQ was 0.725 (95% CI 0.690-0.760). The cut-off value of the SNAQ, according to both the MNA long and short forms, was 14 (sensitivity; 50%, 50% and specificity; 84%, 82%, respectively). The Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of SNAQ for internal consistency was 0.639.
Conclusion: The SNAQ was reliable and valid as an appetite screening tool in community-dwelling Turkish elderly.

The primary approach to assessing monitored natural attenuation (MNA) is currently based on a conceptual model utilizing the total contaminant concentrations, assuming a single aqueous species. However, many contaminants, such as metals and radionuclide - including iodine, can exist in multiple species that behave chemically differently in the environment and can exist simultaneously. For example, radioiodine often occurs concurrently as three major aqueous species: iodide (I), iodate (IO), and organo-I, which undergo distinct attenuation pathways and exhibit markedly different mobility and geochemical behavior.

Background: Medication non-adherence (MNA) presents a significant obstacle that negatively impacts treatment effectiveness in mental health disorders. The objective of this review is to study different types of MNA and interventions designed to enhance medication adherence among individuals with mental health disorders.
Methods: We conducted an electronic search on PubMed and Google Scholar using keywords such as adherence, non-adherence, compliance, non-compliance, mental health disorders, psychotropic drugs, major depressive disorder (MDD), schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorders (BD).

Background: Malnutrition among older adults is associated with numerous adverse effects, including increased morbidity, mortality, prolonged hospital stays, and a heightened risk of falls. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of malnutrition in different groups of older adults using the F-MNA, anthropometry, and s-albumin and the association between nutritional status and fall risk.
Methods: A total of 228 participants aged 60 years and older were divided into three groups: (1) patients in an internal medicine ward, (2) individuals living in family homes, and (3) residents of care homes.

Gamification, the use of game-styled learning methods in non-game contexts, encourages student participation, increases learning motivation, and maximizes the amount of information students can retain. An intervention was designed utilizing gamification principles to reinforce material learned during a week-long regional anesthesia intensive. Students participated in team-based competitions consisting of knowledge-based questions, critical thinking, and hands-on ultrasound skills.

Background & Aims: Many people with dementia frequently experience various health-related problems and are known to have poor nutritional status. However, very few studies have examined the nutritional status of dementia residents in group homes, which play an important role in a society-wide system of support for people with dementia, or the relationship between nutritional status and long-term prognosis. This study was conducted to determine the nutritional status of group-home residents and to examine the relationship between nutritional status and the 5-year survival rate.
