Twenty-seven serovar Schwarzengrund isolates from clinical sources were sequenced as part of a larger study to examine phenotypic and genotypic characteristics. The majority of the sequenced strains were isolated from human stool ( = 20) followed by urine ( = 3) and blood ( = 2). Four isolate sequences contained plasmids of known incompatibility groups.

The global incidence of serovar Schwarzengrund has risen in recent years. This serotype has been isolated from poultry, retail meat, and other food products, leading to multiple outbreaks. Alongside the increase in infections, there are growing concerns about the increasing levels of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among Schwarzengrund strains.

From October 2020 to February 2021, a total of 95 retail chicken meat products from 39 retail meat shops in Tokyo Metropolis and Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, were collected and examined for the prevalence of Salmonella to assess public health implications. If a sample tested positive for Salmonella, a quantitative analysis was performed using the three-tube most probable number (MPN) method. Of 95 retail chicken meat products, Salmonella was isolated from 30 samples (31.

Microbial resistance to antibiotics poses a significant threat to both human and animal health, necessitating international efforts to mitigate this issue. This study aimed to assess the resistance profiles of sp. isolates and identify the presence of 1, 1, and TEM resistance genes within antigenically characterized isolates, including Agona, Livingstone, Cerro, Schwarzengrund, enterica subsp.
