We present a high accuracy Monte Carlo simulation study of the uniaxial nematic (N_{U}) to isotropic (I) phase transition of a lattice dispersion model of uniaxial nematics composed of biaxial molecules. The N_{U}-I coexistence curve terminating at the Landau critical point has been determined using the multiple histogram reweighting technique. A close investigation reveals a sharp departure in the nature of the N_{U}-I coexistence curve in the temperature-biaxiality parameter phase diagram in comparison to the earlier theoretical (either mean-field or computer simulation) predictions. The coexistence curve shows a change in curvature with increasing value of the degree of molecular biaxiality.

With reduced dimensionality and a high surface area-to-volume ratio, two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors exhibit intriguing electronic properties that are exceptionally sensitive to surrounding environments, including directly interfacing gate dielectrics. These influences are tightly correlated to their inherent behavior, making it critical to examine when extrinsic charge carriers are intentionally introduced to the channel for complementary functionality. This study explores the physical origin of the competitive transition between intrinsic and extrinsic charge carrier conduction in extrinsically -doped MoS, highlighting the central role of interactions of the channel with amorphous gate dielectrics.

Background: Cognitive frailty (), characterized by the coexistence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment, is linked to increased morbidity and mortality in older adults. While has been linked to multiple physiological and lifestyle factors, the underlying biological mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study investigated the risk factors for and explored the relationship between mitochondrial function and in hospitalized patients.

Co-morbid anxiety and depression (CAD) is defined as the co-existence of anxiety and depression. During pregnancy, women are more prone to negative emotions, such as anxiety and depression, than the general female population. The incidence of CAD during pregnancy is 1-26 %.

Background: Heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) usually coexist and are associated with a poorer prognosis. This study aimed to develop a model to predict in-hospital mortality in patients with HF combined with AF.
Methods: Patients with HF and AF were obtained from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database from 2008 to 2019.

Recent studies of wetting in a two-component square-gradient model of interfaces in a fluid mixture, showing three-phase bulk coexistence, have revealed some highly surprising features. Numerical results show that the density profile paths, which form a tricuspid shape in the density plane, have curious geometric properties, while conjectures for the analytical form of the surface tensions imply that nonwetting may persist up to the critical end points, contrary to the usual expectation of critical point wetting. Here, we solve the model exactly and show that the profile paths are conformally invariant quartic algebraic curves that change genus at the wetting transition.
