We describe a new species of from the montane forest of the Río Zuñag Ecological Reserve, upper basin of the Pastaza River, Ecuador. is characterized by a snout-vent length of 11.6-21.3 mm in adult males ( = 12), 22.6-34.3 mm in adult females ( = 8), and is compared morphologically and genetically with and with other relevant species of . The new species is characterized by having skin on dorsum and flanks shagreen, distinctive scapular folds, snout broadly rounded in dorsal view, upper eyelid bearing one or two subconical tubercles and some rounded tubercles, dorsum and flanks light brown to brown, with irregular dark brown marks bounded by dirty cream and groin with irregular yellowish marks.

Floodplain wetlands are biologically rich and productive ecosystems that can capture carbon (C) from the atmosphere through macrophytes and phytoplanktons and hold it in soil for a long time thus playing a critical role in mitigating climate change. The Assam state of India has about 1392 floodplain wetlands engulfing around 100,000 ha area in the Brahmaputra and Barak River basin. In the present study, five different wetlands in the middle Assam viz.

The excessive use of antibiotics contributes significantly to environmental pollution and the widespread presence of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), which poses a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems and human health. Despite being a critical source of antibiotics and ARGs in the environment, research exploring their occurrence and removal characteristics in township wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) remains limited. This study investigated the abundance and removal efficiencies of 39 antibiotics and 8 ARGs in influent and effluent samples from 40 township WWTPs located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

The Litany River has encountered severe environmental pollution. This study focused on assessing the pollution level in the upper basin of the Litany River by monitoring seasonal variation of water quality and testing physicochemical parameters and microbial qualities. A total of 72 freshwater samples were taken from six sites for 1 year during the four seasons.

Understanding geochemical source-sink relationships is an important aspect for developing background values of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in a lake basin. This approach was studied in the Araguaia belt of Amazonia, Brazil. A total of 96 sediments (from 13 lake cores LA1-LA13), 36 surface soils, and 19 catchment rocks were collected in 2022 and chemical analysis of these samples was performed in the fine fraction (< 177 μm) using XRF and ICP-MS.
