Background: Orexin neuropeptides help regulate sleep/wake states, respiration, and pain. However, their potential role in regulating breathing, particularly in perioperative settings, is not well understood. TAK-925 (danavorexton), a novel, orexin receptor 2-selective agonist, directly activates neurons associated with respiratory control in the brain and improves respiratory parameters in rodents undergoing fentanyl-induced sedation.

Insomnia, as a common sleep disorder, is the most common complaints in medical practice affecting a large proportion of the population on a situational, recurrent or chronic basis. It has been demonstrated that, during wakefulness, patients with insomnia exhibit increased EEG power in theta, beta, and gamma band. However, the relevant mechanisms underlying such power changes are still lack of understanding.

Background: Postpartum depression is common and may be linked to antepartum insomnia, a potentially modifiable risk factor. We examine the association between insomnia- and postpartum depression symptoms, considering whether psychiatric vulnerability moderates this link.
Method: Participants completed the Insomnia Severity Index during trimester two and three and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression questionnaire postpartum.
