Introduction: Tissue repair can be promoted by moderate inflammation but suppressed by excessive levels. Therefore, control of excessive inflammation following removal of infection plays a critical role in promotion of pulpal repair. Connexin 43 (Cx43) forms hemichannels (HCs) or gap channels (GJs) to facilitate the delivery of small molecules between cells to regulate both inflammation and repair.

Introduction And Aims: Congenital bladder anomalies are rare and are a leading cause of end stage renal failure in children. The Wnt signaling pathway, important during embryonic development, has been implicated in the pathogenesis of these conditions through regulation of gene expression, including essential transcription factors. We investigated the expression of four Wnt transcriptional targets, namely, Pygopus 1 (Pygo1), Connexin 43 (Cx43), FRA1 and TCF7L1 in three rare congenital bladder disorders: bladder exstrophy (BE), neurogenic bladder (NGB) and posterior urethral valves (PUV).

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major and multifaceted health problem but also the first cause of death in modern Western societies. Furthermore, myocardial infarction (MI) constitutes a challenge for analysis in the field of molecular mechanisms, early diagnosis and therapeutic approaches, as its incidence increases every year worldwide. Concerning the histopathological diagnosis in the corresponding cases, a variety of immunohistochemistry (IHC) markers and methods are available to support conventional histology diagnosis.

Introduction Cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM) is recognized by impaired cardiac responsiveness to stress, prolonged QT interval, and systolic and diastolic dysfunctions. Connexins are a family of transmembrane proteins that play a key role in cardiac physiology. Connexin 43 (Cx43) inhibition showed cardio-protective effects.
