The corrosion inhibition performance of Hexa (3-methoxy propan-1,2 diol) cyclotriphosphazene (HMC) on carbon steel in 3% NaCl solution was investigated by weight loss (WL), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements, Density functional theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The corrosion inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration (10M) is 99% of HMC at 298 K. The corrosion inhibition efficiency at 10 M decreases with increase in temperature. The adsorption of HMC on the surface of carbon steel obeyed Langmuir isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization study confirmed that inhibitor anodic-type. DFT and Monte Carlo (MC) simulations based computational approaches were under taken to support the experimental findings. DFT studies revealed that HMC interact with metallic surface through donor-acceptor interactions in which the anionic parts act as electron donor (HOMO) and cationic parts behaved as electron acceptor (LUMO). The MC simulations study showed that studied HMC adsorb spontaneously on Fe (110) surface.

Hyperspectral imaging, a rapidly evolving field, has witnessed the ascendancy of deep learning techniques, supplanting classical feature extraction and classification methods in various applications. However, many researchers employ arbitrary architectures for hyperspectral image processing, often without rigorous analysis of the interplay between spectral and spatial information. This oversight neglects the implications of combining these two modalities on model performance, consumption, and inference time.

Halide-free ion pair organocatalyst from biobased α-hydroxy acid for cycloaddition of CO to epoxide.

The cycloaddition of CO to epoxide (CCE) reactions produce valuable cyclic carbonates useful in the electrolytes of lithium-ion batteries, as organic solvents, and in polymeric materials. However, halide-containing catalysts are predominantly used in these reactions, despite halides being notoriously corrosive to steel processing equipment and residual halides also having harmful effects. To eliminate the reliance on halides as cocatalyst in most CCE reactions, halide-free catalysts are highly desirable.

State Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Boundary Layer Physics and Atmospheric Chemistry, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, 100029, China; College of Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, 100049, China.

A multiple-site filter-sampling observation study was conducted in a coastal industrial city (Rizhao, 35°10'59″N, 119°23'57″E) to understand the main components, formation mechanisms, and potential sources of particulate matter. The average (±σ) mass concentration of PM across all the sites was 42 (±27) μg/m, with high variability (6∼202 μg/m). Water-soluble inorganic ions (WSIIs) were the major contributors (54%∼60%) to PM with mean values for sulfate (13 μg/m), nitrate (6 μg/m), and ammonium (7 μg/m) (SNA).

Co-gasification of blast furnace dust with petcoke for sustainable waste management.

Department of Mineral Processing, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha 751013, India. Electronic address:

This study employed a lab-scale fluidized bed steam gasification setup to perform the co-gasification experiments with blast furnace dust (BFD) and petcoke (PC) - wastes from the steel and refining industries, respectively. Multiple experiments were conducted at the optimized conditions to decipher the effects of the mineralogical content of the feed samples on the gasification performance parameters. With the addition of iron and zinc-abundant BFD sample to PC, an effective enhancement in the ability of the gasifier to produce hydrogen-rich synthesis gas was observed, attributed to an increase in surface active sites for gasification reactivity.

This work reports the obtention of Si,N,S-CQDs from sugar cane bagasse and their inhibitory action on the mild steel corrosion in 1 mol L HCl solution. The CQDs were successfully obtained and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, Dynamic light scattering, Raman, and UV-vis techniques, also showing endogenous self-doping. The anti-corrosive activity of CQDs was investigated by gravimetric tests, potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impedance measurements, atomic force microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.
