The current study evaluated the effectiveness of a mobile application, Camp Discovery, designed to teach receptive language skills to children with autism spectrum disorder based on the principles of applied behavior analysis. Participants ( = 28) were randomly assigned to an immediate-treatment or a delayed-treatment control group. The treatment group made significant gains, < .001, = 58.1, = 7.54, following 4 weeks of interaction with the application as compared to the control group, = 8.4, = 2.13. Secondary analyses revealed significant gains in the control group after using the application and maintenance of acquired skills in the treatment group after application usage was discontinued. Findings suggest that the application effectively teaches the targeted skills.

Current fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) studies primarily focus on alcohol's actions on the fetal brain although respiratory infections are a leading cause of morbidity/mortality in newborns. The limited studies examining the pulmonary adaptations in FASD demonstrate decreased surfactant protein A and alveolar macrophage phagocytosis, impaired differentiation, and increased risk of Group B streptococcal pneumonia with no study examining sexual dimorphism in adaptations. We hypothesized that developmental alcohol exposure in pregnancy will lead to sexually dimorphic fetal lung morphological and immune adaptations.

Background: Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is an evidence-based pedagogical approach that uses art analysis and structured inquiry to enhance observation, critical thinking, and teamwork, especially in medical training for clinical skills development. This study aimed to compare the short-term and delayed follow-up effects of integrating Visual Thinking Strategies and Visual Thinking Activity (VTA) tasks based on the PRISM Model with Observation Exercises (OE) on medical students' observation skills, including the number of observations, number of words used, and time spent describing observations.

Method: This pre- and post-test experimental study with a control group was conducted among first-year medical students at Gonabad University of Medical Sciences during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Datian County General Hospital, 180 Xueshan North Road, Datian County, 366100, China.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma is the most common form of lung cancer and one of the most life-threatening malignant tumors. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulatory cell death pathway that is crucial for tumor growth. SNX30 is a key regulatory factor in cardiac development; however, its regulatory mechanism and role in inducing ferroptosis in lung adenocarcinoma remain unclear.

Background: Prophylactic parenteral administration of antibiotics is strongly recommended to prevent surgical site infection (SSI). Cefoxitin is mainly administered intravenously in colorectal surgery. The current standard method for administering prophylactic antibiotics in adults is to administer a fixed dose quickly before skin incision.
