Published: August 2019

In this work, a Zr-doped TiO layer is introduced into planar-structure perovskite solar cells via a simple sol-gel method. The prepared device configuration is ITO/PEDOT:PSS/CH₃NH₃PbICl/PCBM/Zr-TiO/Al. The performance of the perovskite solar cells was investigated through measurements of the current-voltage characteristics, impedance analysis, and photocurrent decay. A power conversion efficiency of 15.43% was measured under 1 sun condition; this level of efficiency is 27% higher than that of the device with a Zr-free TiO layer. Additionally, the incorporation of Zr into the TiO layer improved the carrier extraction as a result of the oxygen vacancy trap passivation. Lastly, the trap passivation of the Zr-TiO film was confirmed by analyzing the photoluminescence spectrum.

In the realm of materials science and engineering, the pursuit of advanced materials with tailored properties has been a driving goal behind technological progress. Scientific interest in laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) fabricated NiTi alloy has in recent times seen an upsurge of activity. In this study, we investigate the impact of varying volume energy density (VED) during L-PBF on the microstructure and corrosion behaviour of NiTi alloys in both scan (XY) and built (XZ) planes.

Atomically precise synthesis of graphene nanostructures on semiconductors and insulators has been a formidable challenge. In particular, the metallic substrates needed to catalyze cyclodehydrogenative planarization reactions limit subsequent applications that exploit the electronic and/or magnetic structure of graphene derivatives. Here, we introduce a protocol in which an on-surface reaction is initiated and carried out regardless of the substrate type.

Nanopowders or films of pure and mixed oxides in nanoparticulate form have gained specific interest due to their applicability in functionalizing high-surface-area substrates. Among various other applications, our presented work primarily focuses on the behavior of TiO as a photocatalyst deposited by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on a quartz particle. The photocatalytic activity of TiO on quartz particles grown by ALD was studied in terms of ALD growth temperature and post-treatment heating rate.

Electrochromic capacitors, which are capable of altering their appearances in line with their charged states, are drawing substantial attention from both academia and industry. Tungsten oxide is usually used as an electrochromic layer material for electrochromic devices, or as an active material for high-performance capacitor electrodes. Despite this, acceptable visual aesthetics in electrochromic capacitors have almost never been achieved using tungsten oxide, because, in its pure form, this compound only displays a onefold color modulation from transparent to blue.

Institute of Chemical Technology and Engineering, Faculty of Chemical Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Berdychowo 4, 60-965 Poznan, Poland.

The concept of using polyaniline/titanium dioxide heterostructures as efficient photocatalysts is based on the synergistic effect of conducting polymer and metal oxide semiconductors. Due to inconclusive literature reports, the effect of different polyaniline/TiO ratios on photocatalytic activity under UV and visible light was investigated. In most papers, non-recommended dyes are used as model compounds to evaluate visible light activity.
