This study is a significant contribution to L. monocytogenes risk analysis. L. monocytogenes was found in 3.6% of 30,016 analyzed RTE food samples. A food safety criterion of 100 CFU/g was exceeded for 0.3% of the RTE food samples. Salted and cold-smoked fish products were found to be potentially high-risk foods.

Shiga toxin-producing (STEC) infections have increased in humans, animals, and the food industry, with ready-to-eat (RTE) food products being particularly susceptible to contamination. Ready-to-eat (RTE) foods are the most common sources of transmission. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) enhances the investigation of foodborne outbreaks by enabling the tracking of pathogen sources and the prediction of genetic traits related to virulence, stress, and antimicrobial resistance, which benefit food safety management. Due to an increased demand for natural food additives, clove oil was assessed as a natural alternative to chemical disinfectants in produce washing. This study assessed the antimicrobial activity of 5 and 10% (/) clove oil-amended wash liquid (CO) using a zone of inhibition (ZIB) test and determined the time required to completely inactivate pathogenic bacteria using bacterial death curve analysis. A washing experiment was used to evaluate CO's ability to inhibit bacterial growth on inoculated RTE spinach and in the wash water.
