Article Synopsis
  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a major cause of dementia with no current treatments to effectively stop its progression, but studies suggest that mild exercise and nutritional strategies, like platycodin D (PD), could help in prevention and mitigation of neurodegeneration.* -
  • The study investigated the combined effects of PD and voluntary running on cognitive function and AD pathology in genetically modified mice, revealing improvements in memory and behavioral tests when both treatments were used together compared to either one alone.* -
  • Results indicated that the combination therapy not only enhanced cognitive abilities by restoring nest-building behavior and improving spatial memory but also reduced harmful biomarkers associated with AD, highlighting a potential new approach for managing the disease.*

Objective: Appraisals of military service, both desirable and undesirable, assessed via Elder and Clipp's (1989) scale, are associated with psychological distress in veterans. Aging combat veterans (CV) are at increased risk for posttraumatic stress disorder and other psychological disorders yet may underreport symptoms and not seek treatment that could be beneficial. It is unknown whether desirable and undesirable appraisals of military service are associated with mental health outcomes above and beyond typical risk and protective factors, such as age, education, and combat exposure.

Following Indigenist and relational approaches, we (Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth and educators) explore the critical aspects of this initiative, highlighting its significance and potential impact. Indigenous communities have long held a deep connection with the land and possess traditional knowledge that is invaluable in combating climate change.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) mRNA vaccine enables quick upgrade of antigen sequence to combat emerging new variants. In an observer-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial, immunologically naïve 300 adults and 150 older participants were enrolled and randomized (1:1:1) to receive two doses of 20 µg or 30 µg of a SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine (SYS6006) or placebo. Adverse events (AEs) were recorded through 30 days after the second dose.
