Purpose: In patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), infections, particularly pneumonias, are the most common cause of hospital admissions and death after cardiovascular diseases. It is recommended that dialysis patients receive the pneumococcal vaccine every five years and the influenza vaccine annually. Our study aims to determine the awareness and factors affecting influenza and pneumococcal vaccination rates in hemodialysis patients.

Background: Purulent meningitis poses a significant clinical challenge with high mortality. We present the case of a 54-year-old female transferred to our emergency department with suspected bacterial meningitis, later diagnosed as an Austrian syndrome.
Case Presentation: The patient exhibited subacute somnolence, severe headache, nausea and fever.

Description: The aim of this American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Clinical Practice Update (CPU) is to provide best practice advice (BPA) statements for gastroenterologists and other health care providers who provide care to patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The focus is on IBD-specific screenings (excluding colorectal cancer screening, which is discussed separately) and vaccinations. We provide guidance to ensure that patients are up to date with the disease-specific cancer screenings, vaccinations, as well as advice for mental health and general wellbeing.
