AI Article Synopsis

  • The Briggs-Rauscher oscillating reaction was studied in hydrochloric acid with added chloride ions, using ethylacetoacetate as a substrate in a batch reactor.
  • Changes in key oscillation parameters (like induction period, oscillation period, and amplitude) were analyzed using a skeleton mechanism proposed by previous researchers, indicating that these steps can explain many observed changes despite some limitations.
  • In 0.018 M HCl media, oscillations showed potential for zero amplitudes due to inhibition from low chloride concentrations, suggesting that chemical depletion affects the reaction dynamics near the end of oscillation cycles.

Article Abstract

Briggs-Rauscher oscillating reaction has been investigated in hydrochloric acid media and in the presence of added chloride ions in phosphoric acid media in a batch reactor using ethylacetoacetate as the organic substrate. The changes in key oscillation parameters, namely, induction period, oscillation period, amplitude, and so forth, have been explained in terms of the steps of the skeleton mechanism proposed by Furrow and Noyes and by de Kepper and Epstein. In spite of several shortcomings as outlined in section 2 in the text, the same mechanistic steps are good enough to explain qualitatively most of the changes in oscillation parameters under different stirring rates and temperatures in phosphoric acid and hydrochloric acid media, particularly stirring effects explained well by the theory of imperfect mixing. Potential data indicate that 0.018 M HCl medium has the ability to exhibit near-zero/zero amplitudes before cessation of oscillations. Inhibition reactions from a low Cl concentration in the 0.018 M HCl media appear to be responsible for this interesting dynamical transformation, as toward the end of oscillations, the difference between [I] and [I] [see eq J in the text] becomes very small because of depleted component chemicals due to chemical reactions.

Acid-Triggered Dual-Functional Hydrogel Platform for Enhanced Bone Regeneration.

Stem cell implantation holds promise for enhancing bone repair, but risks of pathogen transmission and malignant cell transformation should not be ignored. Compared to stem cell implantation, recruitment of endogenous stem cells to injured sites is more critical for in situ bone regeneration. In this study, based on the acidic microenvironment of bone injury, an HG-AA-SDF-1α composite hydrogel with a dual-control intelligent switch function is developed by incorporating stromal cell-derived factor (SDF-1α), arginine carbon dots (Arg-CDs), and calcium ions (Ca) into the oxidized hyaluronic acid/gelatin methacryloyl (HG) hydrogel.

GcvB small RNA post-transcriptionally regulates more than 50 genes involved in amino acid uptake and biosynthesis in , but the full extent of GcvB regulon is still underestimated.

This meta-analysis investigates the potential of allopurinol to prevent contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), a common and serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). CIN is particularly prevalent among high-risk populations, including patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS), where the administration of contrast agents can exacerbate renal injury. Allopurinol, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, is known for its dual action in reducing oxidative stress and uric acid production, positioning it as a promising therapeutic candidate to mitigate CIN.

The glycocalyx and its associated endothelial surface layer which lines all cell membranes and most tissues, dwarfs the phospholipid membrane of cells in extent. Its major components are sulphated polymers like heparan and chondroitin sulphates and hyaluronic acid. These form a fuzzy layer of unknown structure and function.
