This report describes a case of lumbar disc infection potentially induced by acupuncture in a 43-year-old male with a history of back pain. After acupuncture treatment at another hospital, the patient experienced worsened pain. Physical examination revealed tenderness at the upper lumbar intervertebral space and paravertebral percussion pain.

Objective: To evaluate systemic inflammatory markers in cases of exogenous endophthalmitis caused by metal foreign bodies after penetrating eye injury and identify risk factors for poor control post-initial emergency surgery.
Methods: Twenty-nine patients with exogenous endophthalmitis underwent emergency surgery with vitrectomy at Xiamen Eye Center (2016-2024). Evaluations included systemic inflammatory markers, microbiology, clinical presentation, treatment strategies, complications, prognostic factors, and visual outcomes.

However, there have been limited studies on the systemic exposure of topical vancomycin. Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication following primary total joint arthroplasty (TJA). PJI accounts for 15-25% of revision surgeries, therefore it is associated with PJI is associated with substantial patient morbidity and mortality as well as increased healthcare expenditures due to complex treatment strategies. Recently, intraoperative local application of vancomycin powder is increasingly being used in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA, TKA) as an additive strategy for PJI prevention.
