Predicting student self-efficacy in Muslim societies using machine learning algorithms.

Front Big Data

December 2024

Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, United States.

Introduction: Self-efficacy is a critical determinant of students' academic success and overall life outcomes. Despite its recognized importance, research on predictors of self-efficacy using machine learning models remains limited, particularly within Muslim societies. This study addresses this gap by leveraging advanced machine learning techniques to analyze key factors influencing students' self-efficacy.

From automated Raman to cost-effective nanoparticle-on-film (NPoF) SERS spectroscopy: A combined approach for assessing micro- and nanoplastics released into the oral cavity from chewing gum.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

Institute for Global Food Security, School of Biological Sciences, Queen's University Belfast, Belfast, United Kingdom; Material and Advanced Technologies for Healthcare, Queen's University of Belfast, 18-30 Malone Road, Belfast BT9 5DL, United Kingdom. Electronic address:

Microplastics (MPs) and Nanoplastics (NPs), a burgeoning health hazard, often go unnoticed due to suboptimal analytical tools, making their way inside our bodies through various means. Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS), although is utilized in detecting NPs, challenges arise at low concentrations due to their low Raman cross section and inability to situate within hotspots owing to their ubiquitous size and shape. This study presents an innovative and cost-effective approach employing household metallic foils (aluminium and copper) as nanoparticle-on-film (NPoF) substrates for targeting such analytes.

Survival prediction of glioblastoma patients using machine learning and deep learning: a systematic review.

BMC Cancer

December 2024

Department of Data Science, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran.

Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), classified as a grade IV glioma by the World Health Organization (WHO), is a prevalent and notably aggressive form of brain tumor derived from glial cells. It stands as one of the most severe forms of primary brain cancer in humans. The median survival time of GBM patients is only 12-15 months, making it the most lethal type of brain tumor.

Background: Dialysis Access (DA) stenosis impacts hemodialysis efficiency and patient health, necessitating exams for early lesion detection. Ultrasound is widely used due to its non-invasive, cost-effective nature. Assessing all patients in large hemodialysis facilities strains resources and relies on operator expertise.

The causal explanations voice-hearers have for their voice-hearing experiences may influence affective outcome and clinical decision making. Voice-hearers endorse a range of explanatory models, which do not consistently align with explanatory models held by healthcare professionals. Research has established that explanatory models for voice-hearing are dynamic rather than fixed, and are influenced by internal beliefs and motivations, culture, and contact with significant others.
