This project is focuses on novel, cost effective and simple plant mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) using leaf extract of Albizia procera. The optical, structural and physical properties of green synthesized Ag-NPs have been investigated by UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), respectively. Prepared Ag-NPs are spherical in shape and crystalline in nature with an average size of 6.18 nm. Ag-NPs have showed promising potential in removal of organic pollutant methylene blue (MB) dye. Careful investigation on the removal of dye as a function of contact time, UV light and exposure time, dose of nanoparticles, temperature and pH have also been carried out. Moreover, Ag-NPs exhibit outstanding antibacterial activities against gram negative Escherichia coli (E. coli) and gram positive Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacterial pathogens.

The design and fabrication of novel electrodes with strong electrochemical responses are crucial in advanced supercapacitor technology. In this study, a poly(m-toluidine)/silver-silver oxide (PMT/Ag-AgO) nanocomposite was prepared using the photopolymerization method. Various characterization techniques were employed to analyze the prepared nanomaterials.

We report the in situ synthesis of silver-containing polyisocyanurate (Ag-PI) gels via the self-polymerization of isocyanate-containing organic molecules (Desmodur N75) catalyzed by silver nitrate (AgNO) in ,'-dimethylformamide, which acts as both the solvent and reducing agent. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of polyisocyanurate and metallic silver nanoparticles. Gelation occurred in 30 min at 30 °C for Ag-PI, compared to 24 h for the uncatalyzed system, demonstrating AgNO's catalytic role.

Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles using plant extracts has emerged as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional methods, offering potential applications in biomedicine and environmental remediation. This study demonstrates the successful biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (SNPs) and gold nanoparticles (GNPs) using Euphorbia acaulis leaf extract as a reducing and capping agent. The nanoparticles were thoroughly characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, HR-SEM, EDX, TEM, AFM, XRD, and FTIR analyses, confirming their successful synthesis and revealing their predominantly spherical morphology with sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm.

Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina, United States of America.

De novo mutations in the RNA binding protein DDX3X cause neurodevelopmental disorders including DDX3X syndrome and autism spectrum disorder. Amongst ~200 mutations identified to date, half are missense. While DDX3X loss of function is known to impair neural cell fate, how the landscape of missense mutations impacts neurodevelopment is almost entirely unknown.

A novel analytical method was designed and developed that exhibited ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), fluorescence (FL), and resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) signals for straightforward and comprehensive determination of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) using polyethylenimine-functionalized silver nanoparticles (PEI-Ag NPs). Through a facile one-step experiment, and NaOH assisted, in an aqueous solution of 100 ℃ for 40 min PEI reacted with AgNO to generate PEI-Ag NPs with a yellow color and weak blue fluorescence. Interestingly, phenylacetaldehyde (PAA), a specific product of MAO-B, causes significant enhancement of the three optical signals of UV-Vis, FL, and RRS.
